Job Description
The Platform FPGA Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, and development of SonoSite-specific custom blocks and the integration of purchased blocks. This includes analysis to support architectural decisions, simulation, verification, characterization, and test. It also includes interfacing and negotiating with FPGA vendors to ensure timely development as well as development of in-house test fixtures and tools to verify efficacy of newly integrated components.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and development of FPGA functional blocks.
* Interfacing/negotiating with internal teams and external vendors.
* Verify performance of purchased IP solutions.
* Specification and documentation.
* Process and vendor selection.
* Responsible and accountable for carrying out the requirements of the company's quality system.
Job Requirements
Knowledge/Experience:
* BS electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience.
* 7 years of relevant industry experience.
* Demonstrable history of successful FPGA implementation.
* 5 years of experience with FPGA design software (Xilinx ISE, Altera Quartus desired).
* Experience with VHDL and Verilog.
* Experience with simulators a must (Mentor Modelsim desired).
* Experience with C desired; C++ knowledge a plus.
* ISO, FDA or other regulated industry training and experience desired.
* Extensive experience in product development from conception to release strongly desired.
* Ability to lift 25lbs with or without accommodations.
