We are looking for an experienced Environment Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Manager for Risk Management.
The role is focused on further developing and implementing Amgen EHS Risk Management processes. This will include rationalization of EHS risk registers with a focus on Serious Injury or Fatality (SIF) risks to enable, better risk analysis, better strategic planning and more efficient leveraging of risk management resources. Additionally, the role will encompass rationalization of Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) programs across all sites to gain efficiencies, improve quality and eliminate unnecessary/duplicative work. Finally, the role will address improvements in EHS processes and deliverables for Acquisition and Divestiture, particularly focusing on more efficient assessment, planning and support for initial integration as well as long term International site support.
These activities are critical to ensure all hazards are identified, effectively assessed and actions taken to eliminate or reduce risk of fatality, serious injury, staff lost time incidents, property damage or business interruption in Operations, R&D and GCO.
In line with Amgen READ (Reliability, Efficiency, Agility & Differentiation) initiative the role will:
+ Drive efficiencies through elimination of duplicate EHS Risk activities/documents at multiple sites for common tasks
+ Improve reliability through standardization of methods, formats and training.
+ Increase agility by identifying opportunities to leverage shared IS platforms in EHS Risk Management
+ Ensure effective Risk Management resource use becomes a competitive advantage
+ Role will also include leading higher level technical risk assessment (PHA, HAZOP etc.) at sites across the Amgen network as demand arises.
+ Lead the development and implementation of effective and efficient Risk Register and JHA systems
+ Lead ongoing improvements in JHA utilization, driving to world class performance
+ Lead improvements in EHS aspects of Acquisition & Divestiture process
+ Develop, coach and mentor EHS network colleagues in optimum use of Risk Register and JHA tools
+ Facilitate practical integration of EHS processes with client business practices.
+ Delivering results through influencing and communicating effectively with clients
+ Independently taking actions to drive improvement in EHS performance in program areas.
+ Managing complex problems and coordinating the implementation of innovative solutions.
+ Challenging the norm and being a source of constructive disruptive ideas.
+ Where needed, lead complex or particularly high hazard Risk Assessment using process hazard evaluation techniques such as What If, HAZOP, FMEA etc. to support site EHS and Engineering deliverables
Master’s degree and 3 years of Corporate Services experience
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Corporate Services experience
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Corporate Services experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Corporate Services experience
+ The successful candidate will have a proven track record in driving excellence as well as an in-depth understanding of small molecule and large molecule discovery, development and manufacturing in both drug substance and drug product areas.
+ 10 or more years of experience in Risk Management, including developing and implementing EHS risk management programs in biotech/pharma.
+ Degree in, chemical engineering, engineering, chemistry, biology or other science areas, or environmental, safety, or industrial hygiene.
+ Strong understanding of Chemical and Biological commercial (GMP and non-GMP) and laboratory operations.
+ Knowledge of European and/or US regulations relevant to pharma/ biotech operations.
+ Familiarity with typical project documents including process diagrams, P&ID’s, equipment specifications, design drawings etc.
+ Qualification in Process Hazard Analysis, including one or more of Hazop, What-If, PrHA, FMEA
+ Familiarity with risks and controls around high potency compounds and explosive atmospheres.
+ Applied knowledge and understanding of EHS principles and practices, regulatory standards, and requirements in context of business activities.
+ Well-developed skills in leadership, communication, program development and project management.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems **.**
