What you’ll do

In collaboration with Accounts Managers (AMs), the role is responsible for translating the Gene Therapy / viral vectors customers’ needs into technical and sales proposals, encompassing the terms of the BioPharma portfolio to propose end-to-end solutions. The role will contribute to the generation of business opportunities at all key Gene Therapy / viral vectors customer sites in collaboration with the BioPharma sales organization. The Regional Gene Therapy Sales Applications Scientist will have deep understanding of gene therapy manufacturing process, will be able to respond to customers’ technical questions in order to help AMs to successfully generate and close opportunities. He/she will be expected to support and educate the BioPharma Account Managers and Sales Specialists on technical aspects of the Gene Therapy market segment. As a result, this role directly contributes to growing Gene Therapy revenue and increase market share.

As a Gene Therapy expert, he/she will be expected to support sales team in understanding GT customers challenges and needs, articulate the technical solution, and translate into product, equipment, and solution offering. This person will operate in a matrix structure and collaborate with the existing teams who own the sales process and interact with the customer. He/she will ensure that good communication systems and processes are created with Account Managers and Sales Specialists.

+ Act as a Gene Therapy subject matter expert from technical to business aspects. Support and train the BioPharma sales organization on Gene Therapy. Differentiate Cytiva’s solutions and offerings, convey compelling value propositions and respond to customers’ technical questions.

+ Support, train and motivate the regional sales teams to address the Gene Therapy market and transfer Gene Therapy / viral vectors application knowledge.

+ Collaborate with Accounts Managers to drive account planning to successfully prospect Gene Therapy customers, gather and synthetize account information, communicate to the respective Sales Account Manager and translate plan into action in collaboration with Account Manager.

+ Create accurate reports of existing business accounts and maintain an accurate forecast of short-term business opportunities. Tracking sales and forecasts in collaboration with account managers

+ Maintain Gene Therapy related business metrics and report on a regular basis to the regional commercial leadership teams.

+ Provide actionable market and technology insights, gather Voice of Customers.

+ Frequent regional travels (50% to 70% and depending on location could be less). Occasional international travel will be required.

Who you are

+ Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, PhD preferred in a Life Science subject or comparable work experience required

+ Viral vectors (AAV Adeno-Associated virus and/or LV Lentivirus) application / process expertise and market knowledge required.

+ Several years of viral vectors process development experience required, ideally utilizing Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare) upstream and downstream products and equipment (Xcellerex mixers and bioreactors, Akta chromatography systems etc.)

+ Experience in formally presenting, product and application solutions to a technical audience is desired. Excellent communication skills essential.

+ Previous experience selling Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare) and/or Life Sciences products is a plus. Preferred experience in direct sales role, Field Application Scientist role, Key Account Management role

+ Outstanding influencing, interpersonal and networking skills to drive collaborative culture at all levels.

+ Self-starter with strong entrepreneurial mindset and good negotiating skills

+ Solid working experience with MS Office especially Excel and PowerPoint and a CRM database (preferably Salesforce.com) required.
