The Value Access and Policy team is responsible for all market access and landscape shaping strategies across key therapeutic areas. This role is critical to ensure the commercial success of Amgen’s molecules in Japan, China and the other Asia Pacific markets (JAPAC). The ideal candidate will take ownership of ‘value messaging’, as early as Phase II, and extending throughout products lifecycle. This role includes all aspects related to lifecycle management including pricing and launch sequencing planning.

The Manager / Senior Manager will work closely with other regional (access lead, pricing lead, health economics lead, marketing, medical colleagues) and Global Payer Lead(s) to support the access planning process, including the situation analysis and the creation of access plans, and the execution of these plans. This individual will sit on the Regional Brand Team(s), representing the Regional VA&P team. Success will require a deep understanding on how to work in a Matrix organization, take the initiative to drive processes forward, along with the experience of managing payers within the JAPAC Regional.

Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

+ Be a member of the regional brand team(s), representing Regional VA&P

+ Play an active role in developing the regional brand plan, e.g., access planning

+ Represent the voice of the payer to the Regional Brand Team (RBT), and actively support/contribute and challenge the team to ensure commercial success

+ Work in a very high-paced and growing organization

+ To work at peer-to-peer level with experienced technical, commercial, and medical experts in other departments, regardless of functional levels

+ Support affiliates and colleagues in the preparation of pricing & reimbursement dossiers for local authorities (in conjunction with the Regional Pricing Lead)

+ Prepare, and if requested by affiliates, take part in pricing & reimbursement negotiations, using a collaborative negotiation approach

+ Develop market access strategy for Hematology or Oncology products, and be comfortable identifying and setting key priorities and reimbursement goals

+ Contribute to launch prioritization sequence planning of new Hematology or Oncology products and/or indications within the region

+ Lead (formally or informally) the preparation, discussion and approval of VAP business cases in the region, with support from regional colleagues and country teams

+ In-depth knowledge/understanding in developing and/or implementing innovative pricing & access models, addressing specific Hematology/Oncology issues

+ Document and track pricing and access assumptions in revenue forecasts for potential deals

+ Assist in analytics and tracking of pricing and access assumptions to be included in appropriate forecasts and long-range plans (LRPs)

**Basic Qualifications**

+ Solid experience in Hematology or Oncology pricing, market access, and policy within JAPAC

+ 5+ years of industry experience (marketing, strategic planning, business analysis, business development, finance or related field experience) with at least 3 years of Market Access experience in JAPAC, or a JAPAC country

+ Proven record in achieving access successes in JAPAC markets

+ Strong understanding of the payer environment in major markets, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing, health technologies assessment, and health/pricing policy

+ Ability to conduct situation analysis of external pricing and reimbursement environment and synthesize relevant information to develop strategic plans

+ Ability to develop and test value messages and value evidence with payers in order to determine the most compelling way in which to demonstrate and communicate product value to payers

+ Ability to translate complex situation and pricing analyses to effectively communicate impact to Amgen business

+ Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including disease state information, clinical trial design, results, and pharmacoeconomic studies, in order to understand the implications for value to payers

+ Ability to manage in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment, and build strong, successful business partnerships with affiliates, and regional & global colleagues

+ The ability and internal drive to move initiatives forward on their own

+ Demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution

+ Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, and identify strategic options & trade-offs

+ Excellent oral/written communications skills and interpersonal skills

+ Fluent in English, with an additional Asian language, is preferred
