In this vital role you will be pivotal in supporting our research partners and driving innovation in drug discovery through the application of AI and ML tools and techniques. While experience in bioinformatics and/or life sciences is preferred, it is not required. As a valuable member of our Research Informatics team, you will play a crucial role in delivering solutions by adhering to Agile and DevOps best practices.

**Key Responsibilities:**
In this role, you will contribute to technical initiatives aimed at achieving the following objectives:
+ **AI** **and** **ML** **Development** : Spearhead the development of software components that leverage AIandMachineLearning to advance R&D scientific objectives.
+ **Bioinformatics Automation** : Enhance our bioinformatics automation capabilities by integrating new pipelines and algorithms into Amgen’s ecosystem.
+ **High-Quality Software Products** : Design, develop, and deliver high-quality, scalable, and robust software products and components in collaboration with product management, stakeholders, and engineering teams.
+ **Security** **and** **Quality** **Standards** : Ensure the effective design, development, and management of software products in compliance with Amgen’s securityandqualitystandards.
+ **Technology** **Evaluation** : Collaboratecloselywith scientists to evaluate and adopt cutting-edgeAIandML technologies to address scientific business needs. Contribute to shaping the vision and roadmap for the Research software ecosystem.

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Doctorate degree OR
+ Master’s degree and 3yearsofexperienceinInformaticsand/orInformationSystemswith a focus onAIandMachineLearningOR
+ Bachelor degree and 5yearsofexperienceinInformaticsand/orInformationSystemswith a strong emphasis onAIandMachineLearningOR
+ Associate degree and 10yearsofexperienceinInformaticsand/orInformationSystems,withsignificant expertise inAIandMachineLearningOR
+ High school diploma / GED and 12yearsofexperienceinInformaticsand/orInformationSystems,withaproventrackrecordinAIandMachineLearning.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ **AI** **and** **ML** **Expertise** : Asolid foundation in modern software design and engineering practices, with a specific focus on AIandML, including experience with low-code solutions, microservices, serverless architecture, and containerization.
+ **Scientific Applications** : Provenexperience in developing and supporting scientific applications or laboratory information systems, particularly those incorporating AIandML.
+ **Agile Development** : Familiarity with one or more agile software development methodologies.
+ **Technical** **Proficiency** : Strong proficiencyin one or more of the following technologies: Python, Java, AI/ML frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, Weka), JavaScript web application frameworks (such as ExtJS or ReactJS), relational databases (e.g., Oracle or Postgres), AWS services related to compute and storage (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, and Batch), and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins).
+ **Scientific** **Domain** **Knowledge** : Demonstratedabilities to quickly grasp scientificdomainknowledge and understand scientists’ software requirements and workflows.
+ **Scientific** **Data** **Collection** : Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and scientificdatacollection applications.
