The Field Application Specialist (FAS) – Cell Culture will support Cytiva customers across Korea’s fast‑growing biopharma, biotech, vaccine, and CDMO eco system as well providing broader expert support to customers based across APAC. This role provides expert technical guidance on cell culture media, supplements, sera, and upstream bioprocess workflow solutions. You will work closely with R&D, process development, and manufacturing teams at customer sites to enable technology adoption, process optimization, and successful scale‑up.
This position reports to the Director – Technical and Application, APAC and is part of the Bioprocess Commercial organization located in Seoul, Korea working remotely to cover across Korea and other APAC regions. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What you will do:
+ Customer Technical Support: Provide on‑site and remote support for Cytiva’s cell culture portfolio, including HyClone media, serum, supplements, and upstream bioreactor workflows. Troubleshoot customer challenges related to cell growth, productivity, media performance, contamination, and process scale‑up. Assist with experimental design and deliver recommendations to achieve consistent and scalable cell culture outcomes. Conduct customer training sessions, hands-on demos, and application workshops
+ Pre‑Sales Support & Solution Enablement: Partner closely with the Korea commercial team to support technology evaluations, product trials, and solution recommendations. Identify and articulate customer needs, mapping them to Cytiva portfolio offerings. Provide technical presentations to R&D, PD, QC, and manufacturing teams across Korean/APAC biopharma hubs.
+ Workflow Optimization & Technical Leadership: Support customers on workflows related to: CHO and HEK cell line culture, Media selection, optimization, and adaptation, Seed train development, Single-use bioreactor adoption, Scale‑up strategies from bench to pilot or GMP level, Document findings, generate technical reports, and share insights with commercial and product management teams.
+ Market & Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Act as a technical liaison for Korea-based customer feedback, industry trends, and competitive insights. Assist product management and global application teams with regional technical inputs. Participate in conferences, seminars, training programs, and government/academic collaborations across Korea.
Who you are:
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, Life Sciences, or related fields.
+ Minimum 7+ years of hands-on mammalian cell culture experience (CHO experience strongly preferred).
+ Strong understanding of upstream bioprocessing, media optimization, and scaling principles relevant to Korea’s biopharma landscape.
+ Ability to conduct technical discussions with scientists and engineers in R&D, PD, manufacturing, and QC.
+ Strong communication and presentation skills in Korean and fluency in English
Travel Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/ Language/ Environment Requirements: Requirements:
+ Ability to travel – up to 50% travel, including overnight stay, within Korea and limited travel outside of Korea 해외여행에 결격사유가 없으신 분
+ Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record within territory or locations 운전을 하여 담당하는 국내 고객사에 방문할 수 있는 분
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Prior exposure to field applications, technical support, or customer-facing scientific roles.
+ Familiarity with Cytiva’s upstream products (HyClone, Xcellerex, WAVE, Single-use systems, etc.).
+ Understanding of Korea and other regulatory and GMP expectations.
