The Senior Production Manager – Column Packing & SPE is responsible for Column Packing and SPE production units, totaling 40 ~ 60 people. The Sr. Production Manager – Column Packing & SPE provides leadership, organization, and technical support and is responsible for day-to-day operations of Column Packing and SPE and is accountable for resources and results of the responsible departments.

This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing and Distribution and is part of the Manufacturing Production team located in Torrance, California and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Manage day-to-day operations of the responsible department(s) while balancing the responsibilities of various business lines such as business analysis, vendor, and risk management and make decisions and recommendations about equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement.

+ Oversee and optimize production processes; meet and exceed objectives for efficiency, throughput, and on-time delivery. Track and publish metrics as required. Perform analyses as needed, including capacity, staffing, product costs, and ROI. Present results to cross-functional groups.

+ Lead continuous improvement efforts and implement lean manufacturing principles in area(s) of responsibility utilizing DBS. Develop programs to improve performance for key metrics for area(s).

+ With HR and Safety, develop and implement programs to improve overall area safety. Coordinate, set up, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production operations. Assure that there is adequate cross-training to support varied operations.

+ Raises and tracks issues and conflicts, removes barriers, resolves complex issues involving stakeholders and escalates to appropriate level when required. With QC/QA, ensure adherence to prescribed procedures, achieving first pass quality results which meet or exceed objectives. Performs investigation and implements corrective actions within CAPA system.

+ Evaluate competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve objects. Review performance formally on an annual basis. Create a positive work environment for all staff so that they feel motivated and empowered to meet goals and objectives and are appropriately recognized for their contributions.

+ Create and adjust production and staff schedules as needed to meet objectives

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Management and 3+ years of people leadership.

+ Bachelor’s degree required. Business administration/management, Engineering or Chemistry preferred.

+ Experience using and utilizing ERP systems – Microsoft D365 or AX ERP knowledge is preferred

+ Requires analytical thinking and strong knowledge on Lean Manufacturing practices

+ Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.

+ Requires analytical thinking and presenting ideas with strong communication with attention to detail, pay specific attention to tasks. Able to clearly and systematically write standard work and/or SOP’s, Manuals, etc.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

+ The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Chemical, biotechnology, aerospace or automotive industry experience

+ Experience in various lean manufacturing processes with exposure to Toyota Production Systems.

+ In depth knowledge of quality principles and technical tools (root cause and problem analysis, statistical tools, lean conversion, variation reduction, design for six sigma, control charts). Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems. Mechanical aptitude – ability to work in operations cells and partner with production engineers to create tools, jigs and fixtures to eliminate variation.

The annual salary range for this role is $ 140,000 – $185,000 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
