**What you will do**

In this vital role you will be the second member of a legal team managing day-to-day legal matters, strategies and tactics associated with Amgen’s operations in Canada. This dynamic position will provide broad legal support services to Amgen Canada’s commercial, medical, regulatory and related business functions in a fast-moving and collaborative environment.

Work is in a FlexSpace environment which is predominantly home-based with flexibility to attend the Mississauga office to meet the needs of the business.

**Responsibilities**

Support

+ Interpreting Canadian law and regulations (e.g. industry codes)

+ Advising on complex legal issues in multiple fields, including commercial, healthcare compliance, value & access

+ Research, drafting and providing legal risk assessments

+ Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including commercial, product listing and healthcare contracts

+ Reviewing promotional and non-promotional materials

+ Development/updating of legal training, contract templates and guidance

+ Support on other matters, e.g. to local data privacy officer and corporate administration

+ Support the continuous improvement of legal processes to promote efficiency

Accountabilities

+ Able to provide sound legal advice with pragmatic commercial insight in line with Canadian legislation and case law and remain up to date with relevant legal changes

+ Able to apply findings to different situations, adapt and suggest overall improvements to processes

+ Able to work independently with some supervision, taking ownership for advice provided

+ Sound individual contributor who is valued by clients by providing legal advice focused on achieving business objectives

**Basic Qualifications:**

Licensed lawyer practicing in Ontario, member in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada or qualified to practice law by a provincial bar association in Canada

Law degree from a recognized law school

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ 3-5 years of law practice at a top law firm and/or experience working in a legal department of a company in a regulated industry

+ Experience/knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and legal environment, including review of promotional and non-promotional materials, healthcare compliance issues and product commercialization

+ Understanding of Amgen business, including company goals and business priorities

+ Consistent track record of ethical judgement/behavior, maturity, strategic planning, problem solving and decision-making

+ Ability to work independently and with cross functional teams in a highly matrixed organization

+ Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, to develop strong relationships across all levels of the organization, to manage client expectations

+ A positive attitude, strong commitment to ethical conduct, collaboration and creativity, awareness of cultural diversity

+ Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities while remaining self-aware of one’s own limits and knowing when to raise matters/reach out for support

+ Proactive “self-starter” who is capable of taking a role within projects to drive clear and timely outcomes

+ A pragmatic ability to balance ideal legal outcomes with the reality of commercial goals
