Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will seek out, develop and implement novel process and data automation solutions to advance our biologics drug discovery capabilities.

Amgen is seeking an innovative **Scientist** to join the Protein Engineering (PE) – Protein Chemistry team. PE is a multidisciplinary team with broad capabilities in protein engineering, expression, purification, and characterization. Key responsibilities will include:

+ Advancing our pipeline by purifying and characterizing novel and complex scaffold molecules that will be the next generation of large molecule therapeutics

+ Leading collaborations with molecular biology, display technologies, expression and purification experts to translate scientific needs and challenges into robust process and data automation solutions

+ Developing innovative and novel solutions to increase our throughput, improve quality, streamline data capture and analysis, and reduce cycle times

+ Applying technical expertise to manage continuous improvement and support of automation technologies

+ Partnering with Research Informatics and Automation teams to develop seamlessly integrated solutions

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Doctorate degree OR

+ Master’s degree and 4 years of scientific experience OR

+ Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of scientific experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

+ Demonstrated expertise with high through-put technologies, automation platforms, and data management.

+ Familiarity with modern programming languages, such as Python/R or PySpark.

+ Strong knowledge of protein purification, characterization, and analytical techniques; Knowledge of cloning, protein engineering and mammalian cell protein expression.

+ Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication and or patent record
