Cytiva’s Membrane Chromatography R&D team in Stevenage, is looking for an engineer to join its Device Design and Engineering department, based in the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst Incubator. Through a combination of computational and practical design approaches, the team’s core remit involves developing the membrane chromatography devices, and the necessary supporting hardware, in order to optimize the bioprocessing performance of Cytiva’s new and evolving range of Fibro chromatography products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for problem solving, designing, building and making devices that allow the R&D team to carry out their functions more effectively. A key part will be the on-going design development of purification device housings and plastic part assembly method development. The post holder will have access to CAD design software, hand and power tools and a budget to procure new equipment that will benefit their efforts. As well as utilising prototyping methods including 3D printing (internal & external), CNC machining (internal & external) and low-volume plastic injection moulding to aid the design and manufacturing process.

What you’ll do

As a Device Design Engineer, you will support progression of R&D projects, directed towards New Product Introductions (NPIs), and the improvement of existing Cytiva products by providing technical input to project teams focused on developing the next generation of membrane chromatography based bioprocessing solutions.
