Our Director, Pfiedler Education is responsible for the leadership, development, evaluation and maintenance of the products and services developed and coordinated by Pfiedler Education. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant standards and criteria with all continuing education (CE) programs, maintaining and promoting relationships with CE program sponsors, and AORN stakeholders to achieve the vision of fulfilling learning needs. The Director, Pfiedler Education also provides support to the Industry Sales team and Clinical Program Managers in the development process of CE programs sponsored by medical device and pharmaceutical industry partners. In collaboration with the Sr Director, Industry and other stakeholders, they will be responsible for developing and managing the budget for Pfiedler Education Line of Business.
AORN is based in Denver, CO. Our Director, Pfiedler Education will work remotely.
More about what you’ll get to do as our Director, Pfiedler Education:
- Oversee and manage workflows for educational products, services, and events within Pfiedler Education.
- Mentor and develop direct reports.
- Collaborate with organizational partners to ensure effective communication with all team members on projects.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational products, services and events for Pfiedler Education.
- Represent Pfiedler Education at selected professional association and interdisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with the Director, Perioperative Education to maintain accreditation status with each accreditation organization by staying current with requirements and ensuring compliance with criteria.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders across the organization to develop and market relevant educational products, services, and events for Pfiedler Education.
- Partner with the Sr Director, Industry in developing, implementing, and monitoring the budget for Pfiedler Education, while overseeing the development, expenditure, and reconciliation of individual activity budgets.
- Educate staff regarding accreditation requirements, policies and procedures, and relevant issues (both with professional development and job training).
- Establish and manage systematic planning and review to ensure operational effectiveness of activity development and implementation. Conduct project planning meetings for all Industry Sponsored AORN Enterprise programs.
- Perform the duties of a Clinical Program Manager as necessary.
- Serve as AORN’s internal expert on education, learning technology and live education event excellence.
- Keep up to date with current speakers and their engagements to effectively coordinate professional speakers for educational events.

Must Have’s to be our Director, Pfiedler Education:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in nursing, business, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in nursing or medical education.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience leading and managing a team of direct reports.
- Experience with managing budgets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse.
- Nursing certification in specialty field (e.g., CNOR, CCRN, CEN).
- Experience managing continuing education programs, including live events.
- Experience working with pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry professionals.
- Knowledge of accreditation requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of principles of adult education.
- Ability to evaluate educational programs and learner performance and create action plans to improve educational activities.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and foster interdisciplinary collaboration and team building.
- Analytical thinking skills and the ability to conceptualize new products and services based on trends and market data.
- Strong business process mapping and organizational skills.
- Technologically savvy; aware of current trends as they relate to continuing education.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs, negotiate complex matters and contribute to the AORN leadership team.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Remote work environment, using a computer, telephone and other office equipment daily. Ability to travel as needed to support departmental and Association functions.
