The Financial Accountant for Leica Biosystems is responsible for consolidation reporting and ensuring consistency and compliance with all accounting and control practices. You will also play a role in global ad hoc projects as well as strengthening our existing financial control infrastructure.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

Manage the internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for Leica Biosystems, inclusive of:

+ Preparation of a consolidated income statement and balance sheet for submission to the parent company in adherence with tight reporting deadlines.

+ Calculation and analysis of various financial and operating statistics.

+ Championing the Company’s continued financial stability through a focus on driving integrity in the closing process, internal controls and standardisation of processes across the organisation.

+ Support the local finance teams with technical accounting and compliance guidance.

+ Identifies, recommends, and actively participates in business process improvement opportunities.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with Big 4 experience.

+ External audit background.

+ Knowledge and experience of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) advantageous but not essential.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and challenging deadlines.

+ Strong technical accounting knowledge, high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

+ Confidence to challenge processes, raise control issues and provide clarity around financial data.

Travel/Location of Travel, include approximate overnight stays per week

+ Travel expectations within this role are minimal (<10%)

+ This role shall be based in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne
