Amgen’s Middle East Africa (MEA) region is a fast-growing and dynamic operating unit. Its diverse

business include the following clusters: Maghreb, Egypt, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Gulf and Levant

The Value and Access Senior Manager will support marketed and launch readiness of Amgen’s Hematology/Oncology, General Medicine and Biosimilar portfolio. This position will require collaboration with country and the Intercontinental (ICON) cross-functional teams to define and develop regional critical success factors and brand plans. In addition, partnership with the global teams to represent the MEA point of view and provide Value, Access and Policy (VA&P) inputs and insights will be required.

Responsibilities include:

+ Develop and execute plan of actions to address critical questions to support VA&P insight generation for marketed and pipeline products

+ Participate and flag regional needs in global and ICON initiatives and deliverables, and plan MEA regional access projects to complement ICON research, as needed

+ Communicate effectively and timely with the countries, MEA and ICON cross-functional teams on opportunities and issues to inform marketed and pre-launch plans

+ Assess and monitor pricing and reimbursement for marketed and pre-launch assets in new disease areas or high cost analogues in the region

+ Conduct landscape assessments for public and private opportunities, implications of product characteristics, companion diagnostics, and price dynamics around therapies in the MEA region

+ Identify relevant payer value drivers in new disease areas in the MEA region

+ Scan horizon to identify opportunities for policy engagement/shaping in the MEA region

+ Assess advocacy needs and facilitate advocacy group mapping in the region

+ Partner with country and ICON governmental relations teams to shape healthcare policy, including industry partnerships and relationships

+ Partner on evidence generation planning to support products value propositions including local data and insights on unmet needs, burden of illness, potential cost offset and improved patient experience

+ Partner with commercial on developing patient journey and assessing treatment/market landscapes

+ Partner with medical on medical consultancy meetings to assess clinical landscape and drivers for clinical decisions

+ Work collaboratively across functions and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including regional and country colleagues in marketing, medical, health economics, regulatory, operations, advocacy, and government affairs as well global, regional, and local VA&P colleagues.

+ Communicate with the MEA countries and the ICON VA&P Team

+ Collaborate with cross functional teams

+ Update countries and key stakeholders on opportunities and issues

**Basic Qualifications:**

Master’s degree and 2-3 years of pricing and/or market access experience


Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years of pricing and/or market access experience


Associates Degree and 8 years of pricing and/or market access experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experienced professional ideally with previous experience in regional market access projects

+ Strong understanding of payer landscape to generate insights

+ Understanding of the commercialization process, the payer and access environment

+ Strong understanding of the payer environment in major countries, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing, health technologies assessment, and health/pricing policy.

+ Experience in Amgen’s General Medicine, Hematology/Oncology and Biosimilar portfolio

+ Ability to conduct situation analysis of external pricing and reimbursement environment and synthesize relevant information to develop strategic plans

+ Ability to translate and synthesize complex individualized situation/analyses into impact on Amgen business, and accordingly develop regional perspectives and plans of actions

+ Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including disease state information, clinical trial design and results, and pharmacoeconomic studies, in order to understand implications for value to payers

+ Ability to work within a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment and build strong and effective partnerships with affiliate and regional colleagues

+ Ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving

+ approach, and manage execution

+ Ability to plan strategically, identify strategic options and trade-offs

+ Excellent oral/written communications skills and interpersonal skills

+ Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate different time zones and traveling for in-person

+ meetings in the US and major countries in the region

+ Prior experience in MEA

+ Direct payer experience and/or experience in product commercialization

+ Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English, French, Arabic, or other language relevant to the MEA region
