Reporting to the Sr. Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs, this position will drive the overall Medical Affairs strategy and direction for the Salix division of Bausch Health in order to increase a deep understanding and believe in the Salix portfolio of products within gastroenterology, hepatology, pain management, diabetes, and addiction withdrawal. This position will also serve as the expert for Medical Affairs and Clinical Development for Salix.
**Clinical and Medical Affairs Strategy**
+ Lead strategic and planning discussions as a leader of Medical Affairs with Clinical, medical associates and brand team. Gain alignment to deliver a robust med affairs plan,to compliantly meet the goals of R&D while supporting the company goals.
+ Collaborate with Commercial leadership to understand the direction of the commercial organization and how it aligns with R&D.
+ Responsible for global Clinical Affairs including clinical strategy and development; provide input into the clinical strategy supporting the Clinical Operations group.
+ Engage with Field Medical Directors to ensure all meetings are executed in accordance with the company policy
+ Engage with global partners to understand and further develop Salix compounds
+ Further develop and sustain a successful working relationship between clinical development and medical teams
+ Collaborate with cross functional team members to develop and implement strategies in support of marketed products, launches, and development projects
+ Successfully integrate and leverage an extensive knowledge of the company, market and industry practices and trends to guide our programs and drive growth.
+ Anticipate key trends, opportunities and vulnerabilities to position to organization appropriately
**Key Opinion Leader Development**
+ Identify, develop and maintain a KOL engagement plan.
+ Formalize a platform that captures and centralizes all forms of engagement by KOL
+ Act as a conduit to ensure a unified front to our KOL provider base across the entire Salix organization
+ Act as the primary contact for key associations such as ACG, AASLD, CLDF, GiHealth Foundation to identify partnership opportunities which are aligned with key medical strategies
+ Optimize relationships with patient advocacy organizations such as American Liver Foundation (ALF) and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)
+ MD or DO, required
+ Expertise in gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease is required
+ Minimum ten (10) years of industry experience preferred with at least five (5) years of medical affairs experience
+ Highly motivated with demonstrated track record of high performance, project execution and producing outstanding results, including clinical research experience
+ Ability to lead strategy development and follow on execution
+ Significant, direct experience servicing customer needs, demonstrated ability to work with multiple clients and stakeholders.
+ Clear networking and alliance building capabilities with an ability to influence and develop others, and navigate the internal processes
+ An ability to be flexible and to be innovative
+ Proven ability to facilitate open discussion and debate among key stakeholders and build internal and external relationships through partnering, anticipating needs, fulfilling expectations
+ VP title is commensurate with previous experience and title.
