The Plant Buyer 3 negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers, and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use. Conducts full development life cycle including interviews of users, development of requirements documents, creating design specifications and implementation of requirements. Drives ongoing supplier optimization and continuous improvement.

This position reports to the Materials Manager and is part of the Materials department located in Cortland, New York and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

+ Identification of material issues, over design and shortages and using problem solving to identify & implement countermeasures.

+ Upkeep of deployed Kanbans to ensure they support the manufacturing site and PFEP requirements.

+ Ensuring that Purchase orders are correctly maintained through their life cycle to ensure goods arrive as expected and vendors are paid in line with authorized terms.

+ Working with Warehouse and Accounts payable teams to monitor and correct erroneous receipts & invoices.

+ Working with the rest of the materials team to provide Sourcing teams and our vendors with accurate usage information for our materials to support Heijunka and supplier expectation acceptance.

+ Purchase Order Creation and lifecycle management – daily creation and maintenance of Purchase orders.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelors’ or Associates’ degree with 2+ years or High school diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant work experience directly within buying or supply chain and experience with various supplier and vendor contacts to ensure materials are delivered on time and in proper condition.

+ Proficient utilizing MS Office, using Excel for data analysis and reporting.

+ Experience working with ERP preferably SAP.

+ Ability to remain organized, manage time and engage with suppliers and team members.

The salary range for this role is $75-90K annually. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
