The Sr Manufacturing Systems Engineer – PI Data Historian is a technical leader responsible for lifecycle upgrades, maintenance, and optimization of PI Data Historian systems across Amgen’s global manufacturing network. This role is part of a PI Center of Excellence (COE) at Amgen India (AIN), supporting manufacturing sites and enterprise PI infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with the PI Platform Lead, site system owners and cross-functional teams to ensure reliable data collection, integration, and analytics for manufacturing operations, driving lifecycle upgrades, digital transformation and operational excellence.

**Key Responsibilities**

+ Lead lifecycle upgrades, migrations, and enhancements of PI Data Historian systems across Amgen manufacturing sites.

+ Lead the PI Data Historian scope for capital projects across the network, ensuring adherence to Amgen technical and business standards for PI.

+ Serve as a technical SME for PI Historian, supporting enterprise PI infrastructure and ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance.

+ Collaborate with global manufacturing, automation, and IT teams to design, implement, and validate PI solutions for data acquisition, integration, and reporting.

+ Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and adhere to best practices for PI system architecture, security, and data governance.

+ Develop and maintain PI Asset Framework templates, Analyses, PI Vision displays etc. to be used across Enterprise PI and Manufacturing sites to help achieve business requirements.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve complex PI system issues, providing advanced support to site engineers and end users.

+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging PI data for process optimization, predictive analytics, and digital manufacturing projects.

+ Participate in global PI COE activities, knowledge sharing, and training for site teams.

+ Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Amgen’s quality standards in all PI system activities.

+ Support audits, validation, and change management processes related to PI systems.

**Basic Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or Master’s degree with relevant experience).

+ 8+ years of experience in manufacturing systems engineering, with 3+ years focused on PI Data Historian or similar industrial data platforms.

+ Experience with major PI system components and technologies, including Data Archive, AF, PI Vision, PI Analyses/Notifications, WebAPI, RtReports

+ Experience with a wide range of PI interface/Connector (or Adapter) technologies such as OPC UA/DA, PItoPI, BACNet, RDBMS, UFL.

+ Experience with batch interfaces such as EMDVB, FTBatch, EFGen.

+ Hands-on experience with PI System lifecycle management, upgrades, and enterprise deployments.

+ Experience working on or leading complex upgrade or deployment projects for systems supporting critical activities.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.

+ Strong knowledge of PI System architecture, interfaces (OPC, MQTT, etc.), and integration with MES, ERP, and analytics platforms.

+ Familiarity with automation systems (PLC, SCADA), data analytics, and digital manufacturing initiatives.

+ Familiarity with data integration/middleware technology such as Kepware, Matrikon, HighByte, HiveMQ etc.

+ Familiarity with High Availability architectural patterns for the PI Data Historian components like Data Archive, AF, PI Vision, Analytics.

+ Familiarity with basic AWS technology stack including EC2, EBS, S3, etc.

+ Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies such as UNS, MQTT, Kafka, Streaming Analytics.

+ Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

+ Experience working in global, distributed teams and supporting multiple manufacturing sites.

+ Experience with scripting languages like Powershell and Python is a plus.

+ Certifications in PI System administration or related technologies are a plus.

**Work Environment**

Onsite at Amgen India (Hyderabad) with collaboration across global time zones.

Participation in global PI COE meetings, lifecycle planning, and major upgrade events; occasional extended hours to support global coordination as needed.
