We are looking for a Staff Engineer, Firmware Verification to act as the technical to develop protocols, guide junior verification test engineers for our firmware test and verification strategy. This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role for an expert who has deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, reliability, and innovation to ensuring embedded software is robust, safe, and ready for regulatory scrutiny.

You will be responsible for designing the entire verification ecosystem for our instrument firmware—from architecting scalable automation frameworks to developing and executing the formal test protocols that prove our products are safe and effective. You will build the systems and provide the objective evidence that ensures our firmware is ready for the clinic.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Develop and implement firmware verification strategies for diagnostic/medical devices in collaboration with Verification Architect, including scalable and reusable test automation frameworks using Python and firmware engineering tools/API/SDK

+ Design and execute formal verification protocols and comprehensive test suites covering low-level drivers to complex system behaviors, including black-box and white-box testing, with full documentation of test methods, plans, cases, and results

+ Build and maintain automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments for repeatable firmware testing on target hardware platforms

+ Author verification plans, protocols, and reports compliant with IEC 62304 and FDA submission requirements for diagnostic/medical device software

+ Integrate automated firmware tests into CI/CT pipelines using DBS Tools to enable continuous verification and provide actionable feedback to development teams

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer or electrical engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience in embedded systems development and testing

+ Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in embedded software/firmware verification for robotics, motion control, thermal control, sonication, or optics systems using test case management tools such as Helix, TestRail, or Zephyr and CI/CD tools including Jenkins or GitLab

+ Minimum 5 years of experience developing automated test frameworks using Python and working knowledge of embedded C/C++ for firmware validation

+ Minimum 4 years of experience designing and implementing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test platforms for embedded systems

+ Minimum 5 years of experience in regulated industries such as diagnostics, medical devices, avionics, or automotive with proficiency in system-level debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and sensor logging devices

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Direct, in-depth experience working under IEC 62304 guidelines.

+ Experience with formal software V&V processes under an ISO 13485 Quality Management System.
