We are seeking a seasoned and innovative Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical authority on our hardware development team. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on architecting and designing the electronic systems at the heart of our Class II and Class III diagnostic devices. You will tackle our most complex electrical engineering challenges, from low-noise analog sensor interfaces to high-speed digital processing systems. As a key technical leader, you will mentor other engineers, drive best practices, and ensure our hardware designs are robust, reliable, and compliant with stringent diagnostic/ medical device regulations.
This position reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering and is part of the R&D department, located in Bengaluru, IDC, India, and will be based on-site.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Lead the architecture and design of complex PCB assemblies incorporating mixed-signal, power management, and embedded processing subsystems, with documented design outputs and revision control.
+ Execute detailed analog and digital circuit design using schematic capture tools (e.g., Altium Designer), SPICE-based simulation, and tolerance analysis, including component selection aligned with BOM cost and lifecycle constraints.
+ Ensure hardware designs meet IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 standards for safety and EMC, with full documentation compliant with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 design control requirements.
+ Direct PCB layout activities to achieve signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI compliance, providing layout constraints and review feedback using tools such as Mentor Graphics or Cadence Allegro.
+ Conduct hardware prototyping, bring-up, and validation using lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers), with formal test plans and traceable verification results.
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MESS), with a minimum of 15 years in electrical hardware design, including mixed-signal systems with documented contributions to commercially released products.
+ Demonstrated experience leading the design of diagnostic or medical devices that achieved FDA or CE regulatory clearance.
+ Proficient in IEC 60601-1 compliant design and EMC/EMI troubleshooting, with hands-on validation experience.
+ Advanced proficiency in EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout, including Altium Designer and Cadence Allegro/OrCAD.
+ Extensive design experience with low-noise analog front ends, power management circuits (SMPS, LDOs), microprocessors, FPGAs, and high-speed digital interfaces.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Familiarity with risk management processes (ISO 14971)
+ Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles
+ Experience with RF design or wireless technologies (BLE, Wi-Fi)
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to troubleshoot at the system level
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills
Join our winning team today. Together, we’ll accelerate the real-life impact of tomorrow’s science and technology. We partner with customers across the globe to help them solve their most complex challenges, architecting solutions that bring the power of science to life.
