The Principal Research Engineer – Electronics & Communication is responsible for leading the design and development of advanced electronic architectures and communication frameworks that enable high-speed data acquisition, robust connectivity, and real-time control for next generation bioprocess technologies.
This role demands strategic thinking, deep technical expertise, and the ability to influence technology direction across multiple projects while offering the opportunity to accelerate innovation that transform ideas into impactful solutions in process analytics and intensification.
This position reports to the Director – Research and is part of the Central Technology Organization (CTO) R&D department located in Bangalore and will be an on-site role. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What You Will Do
+ Architect and develop high-performance electronic systems for industrial and research applications.
+ Design PCBs, analog/digital circuits, and power management solutions for harsh environments.
+ Implement signal conditioning and high-speed data acquisition systems.
+ Develop secure and reliable communication protocols for real-time process monitoring and control.
+ Integrate wired and wireless technologies (Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, Modbus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa).
+ Optimize data transfer for edge computing and IoT-enabled PAT solutions.
+ Define technical strategy for electronics and communication in PAT and PI projects.
+ Mentor engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
+ Drive innovation through patents, publications, and technology demonstrations.
Who You Are
+ Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering or related field.
+ 15+ years of experience in electronic system design, industrial communication, or embedded platforms, with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role
+ Expertise in PCB design, analog/digital electronics, and signal processing.
+ Strong knowledge of industrial communication standards and network security.
+ Expertise in EMI/EMC compliance and reliability engineering and familiarity with IoT frameworks and edge computing solutions.
+ Preferred:
+ Experience in life sciences instrumentation or bioprocessing systems.
+ Knowledge of industrial automation and sensor integration.
+ Experience with cloud connectivity and cybersecurity for industrial IoT.
+ Active contributor to the field through scientific publications and patents.
