Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on **Accounting Manager – Financial Reporting & Transformation (AKK/ABGK)** to support both the ongoing financial reporting and accounting operations of **Amgen K.K. (AKK)** and the establishment and operational readiness of **ABGK** , a newly created accounting entity within Amgen.
This role combines ownership of core financial reporting and Record-to-Report (R2R) activities with responsibility for driving finance transformation initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA implementation, process simplification, and the accounting readiness of ABGK. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, operational excellence, and the successful delivery of strategic transformation initiatives supporting Amgen’s future biosimilar and biosame business.
This is an individual contributor role offering broad exposure across financial reporting, statutory and tax reporting, project accounting, finance systems, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. While the role has no direct people management responsibilities, it requires strong leadership through influence and close partnership with stakeholders across Finance, FP&A, Shared Services, IT, Tax, Quality, Regulatory, Safety, Supply Chain, and Commercial functions.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Financial Reporting & Controllership (AKK)**
+ Own the end-to-end **Record-to-Report (R2R)** processandensurefull GAAP compliancewith regard tomonth-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
+ Prepare, review, and analyze financialdata and informationin accordance withAmgen policies and applicable accounting standards.
+ Ownboth US GAAP and J-GAAPfinancialaccounting &reporting activities.Work closely withglobalaccounting team in managing the US GAAP book in SAP.
+ Coordinatewithinternal &external auditors, as well as any applicableregulatory authorities.
+ Support corporate tax, consumption tax, and other statutory tax reporting requirements in partnership withRegional Tax Lead and external tax advisor.
+ Ensureinternal control and policycomplianceacross applicable financial accounting processes.
+ Be the accountingsubject-matter-expertin supportingstrategic business initiatives and cross-functional projects.
+ Partner withtheAmgen capabilitycentreto ensurethe delivery ofhigh-quality accountingservices.
**2. Finance Transformation & Systems**
+ Support SAP ECC enhancements and SAP S/4HANA implementation fromtheaccounting perspective.
+ Support testing and cutover readiness activities in preparation for S/4HANA go-live.
+ Drive accounting process simplification, standardization, automation, and control improvement.
+ SupportAI anddigital finance initiatives toenhance quality, operationalefficiencyandfinancegovernance.
**3. ABGK Readiness**
+ Establish ABGK’sstatutoryaccounting,reportingand tax compliance processes in partnership withvariousinternalstakeholders and external service providers
+ Own the SOPdocumentationand implementation ofapplicableaccounting processes for ABGK, with full compliance with Amgen policies and procedures.
+ Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs), cost allocation methodologies, project accounting, andfinancesupport for ABGK.
+ Oversee ABGK set up in S/4HANA to ensureoperational readiness across finance and related business functionsbefore go-live.
**4. Cross-functional Business Partnership**
+ Build effective partnerships acrossmultiple functions without and outside ofFinance,which includes but not limited toFP&A,Global Accounting, Commercial, Technology, Tax, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Safetyand Capability Centre.
+ Provideaccounting guidanceto supportbusinessdecision-making. Be able toidentifyand flag risks ahead of time.
+ Manageprojectseffectivelybymaintainingtrackers,monitoringdelays,identifyingkeystakeholders, and communicating updates inatimelyandprecise manner.
**Ideal Candidate Profile**
The ideal candidate should be a proactive accounting professional who can manage the full set of books in J-GAAP and US GAAP. In addition, the role should be able to balance core controllership responsibilities with process transformation, system, and business readiness project initiatives.
The successful candidate come with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience, project execution capability, SAP system knowledge, and the ability to influence stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
**Qualifications & Experience**
**Education & Professional Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, ora relateddiscipline.
+ **Japanese Certified Public Accountant (JCPA) certification is** **a must** **.**
+ **US CPA** oranotherinternationally recognized accounting qualification is an advantage.
**Professional Experience**
+ Minimum **7–10 years** of experiencewith career progressioninfinancialaccounting andreportingwithmultinational corporationsor public accounting firms.
+ Strong experience in end-to-end R2R processes,including financial close and Japanese statutory accountingandreportingcompliance.
+ Experienceinsupportingdirect and indirecttaxcompliance, external audit, internal controlverification (e.g.SoX)and accounting policy implementation.
+ Hands-onuserexperience withSAP ECCandSAP S/4HANA. Deployment experiencewill be a plus but not necessary.
