As an intern with the **Electrification and Automation (EA)** division of **Siemens Smart Infrastructure** , you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow – all within a collaborative, impact-driven environment.

**We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Industrial Engineering Internship beginning in May or June 2027. This position will be based at our Raleigh, North Carolina office location.**

**You’ll make an impact by:**

+ Conducting time studies and analyzing assembly processes to establish and validate labor standards.

+ Supporting process improvement, standard work development, and workflow optimization initiatives within the facility.

+ Collecting and analyzing production data to identify bottlenecks and recommend operational improvements.

+ Developing and updating work instructions, visual work aids, and other process documentation.

+ Collaborating with production, quality, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and maintenance teams to improve operational efficiency.

**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related engineering discipline and approaching completion of the required educational credentials for this opportunity.

+ Completed coursework or demonstrated understanding of Industrial Engineering concepts, including process improvement, data analysis, and operations management.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.

+ Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12-week summer internship, including working in an assembly or production environment while engaging directly with manufacturing teams.

+ Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.

+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

+ This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts, including waste identification, 5S/6S methodology, and continuous improvement practices.

+ Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

+ Experience conducting time studies or developing labor standards.

+ Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or similar software, data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, or CAD/layout tools for facility planning and process mapping.

+ Previous manufacturing and/or assembly internship or co-op experience.
