The Area Service Manager, Western / Central US & Canada leads a team of district managers and field service engineers responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing advanced microscopy systems across Confocal, Widefield, and Nano product lines. This role ensures exceptional customer support, strong operational performance, and consistent execution of the Danaher Business System.

This position reports to the Service Director, Americas and is fully REMOTE. Preferred location is in major Western/Central US city (such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Indianapolis, Chicago), and must be in close proximity to a major airport.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Partner with the Americas Service Director to drive service strategy, optimize operational efficiency, develop personnel, and achieve business growth.

+ Lead, mentor, and develop district managers and field engineers to deliver outstanding customer experiences and exceptional technical service.

+ Own key field service processes including: operational improvement, daily management, help desk workflows, quality, and safety.

+ Identify and solve complex operational challenges, leveraging cross-functional resources as needed.

+ Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and drive service performance metrics to meet revenue, profitability, quality, and productivity targets.

+ Use Danaher Business System (DBS) and data analysis tools and partner with Commercial Operations to improve forecasting accuracy, resource planning, and team performance.

+ Serve as the escalation point for Field Service issues for customers and channel partners, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or related field OR 5+ years of relevant experience.

+ 5+ years of people management experience – a manager of managers, including developing leaders.

+ 5+ years managing a field service organization in a high-tech or life sciences environment.

+ 5+ years experience leading customer-facing teams and managing customer relationships.

+ Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office and data-driven decision making.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical Requirements

+ This position requires up to 50% flying and/or driving travel, which may potentially include overnight stays. Travel will primarily be domestic but may occasionally be international.

+ Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

+ Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Experience with Confocal, Widefield, and Nano microscopy systems.

+ Background managing remote or geographically distributed technical teams.

+ Demonstrated ability to leverage KPIs and business insights to predict trends and guide actions.

+ Experience developing and implementing process improvements aligned with DBS.

+ Proven success in applying standard work, visual management, and other DBS tools to drive operational excellence.

The annual salary range for this role is $120,000.00-170,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
