I. Job Summary
This individual will serve as our asset analyst on the Power Marketing and Trading desk. This individual’s purview will encompass all things related to the commercial optimization of our ever-growing portfolio of Landfill Gas to Electricity and Renewable Natural Gas assets across North America (PJM, MISO, Northeast, ERCOT, etc.). This individual will be the key stakeholder in WMRE that ensures operational excellence on both a commercial level (wholesale, retail) and plant level (plant operations). This individual will be engaging key contributors across WMRE (Legal, Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Operations, Risk) as these efforts of excellence are pursued. Our assets have broad commercial values (energy, capacity, RECs), and it will require this individual to thrive in becoming a subject matter expert in all these areas.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ WMRE’s subject matter expert on all commercial nuances to our LFGTE and RNG portfolio. Engages and collaborates with legal, compliance, finance, accounting, operations, and risk to meet the physical and commercial deliverables of each asset.
+ Spearheads asset management efforts with our external customers (PPAs, utilities, ISOs) and leads efforts forward to find the most optimal solution.
+ Serves as the primary conduit of Power Marketing and Trading to the rest of the business for all operations related responsibilities. Expected to step into pressing business needs quickly and lead the business to a solution.
+ Assist with accounting related tasks surrounding the management and delivery of Renewable Energy Credits to environmental trading counterparties
+ Work closely with electricity regulators such as PJM/MISO/ERCOT etc, NEPOOL and PJM REC trading platforms, trading and market counterparties, Public Utility Commissions, WMRE operations/Finance/Accounting teams
+ Being a key electrical engineering subject matter expert, and assist with physical sale/procurement of electrical assets, solving revenue metering issues, and other assessment management dutiesDevelop, analyze, and execute long-term strategies for electrical equipment from acquisition and maintenance to replacement
+ Additional Responsibilities as needed
III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) or in lieu of a degree
+ High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience
+ 2-3 years relevant experience (in addition to education requirement)
B. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong commercial understanding of managing power assets (plant operations, DA vs. RT schedules, tariffs, business practice manuals). Further, this successful candidate would have a background in electrical engineering or related STEM field that would contribute to WMRE’s commercial optimization of assets.
• This successful candidate must excel at project and time management given the nature of WMRE’s portfolio.
