**Role Overview:**
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented **Data Governance Specialist** to join our Data Strategy & Governance team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring that data privacy policies and controls defined by the **Central Data Team (CDT)** and **Data Privacy Office** are effectively implemented and enforced across our data hubs and platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance frameworks, privacy regulations, and enterprise data management practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Policy Enforcement:** Ensure that privacy policies, data handling standards, and control mechanisms published by CDT and Data Privacy teams are consistently applied across all data platforms and hubs.
+ **Governance Frameworks:** Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of data governance frameworks, including data ownership, stewardship, and classification models.
+ **Compliance Monitoring:** Collaborate with platform teams to monitor compliance with internal and external data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
+ **Data Quality & Integrity:** Work with data stewards and custodians to ensure data quality, lineage, and integrity across systems.
+ **Stakeholder Collaboration:** Partner with cross-functional teams including Legal, Security, Engineering, and Analytics to align governance practices with business needs.
+ **Documentation & Reporting:** Maintain comprehensive documentation of governance processes and generate regular reports on policy enforcement and compliance metrics.
+ **Training & Awareness:** Promote data governance awareness and provide training to relevant stakeholders on privacy controls and best practices.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
+ 8-13 years of experience in data governance, data privacy, or related roles.
+ Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and industry standards.
+ Experience with data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS, GCP) and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
+ Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
**Preferred Skills:**
+ Certifications such as CDMP, CIPP, or equivalent.
+ Experience in implementing data governance in large-scale enterprise environments.
+ Familiarity with metadata management and data cataloging tools.
+ Experience is life sciences or healthcare is a plus
