As a Lead Cloud Ops Engineer I, you will be responsible for leading CloudOps initiatives, designing, implementing and, automating CloudOps processes, managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring system reliability through monitoring, and building operational excellence in Cloud software operations.

In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with our Software, Hardware, Research, Quality and Regulatory and Operations teams—as well as other cross-functional partners—to design and develop the Cloud infrastructure to achieve operational excellence and improve the Cloud software operations. You will partner with Cepheid IDC and Cepheid Sunnyvale leadership to build technical capability at Cepheid.

This position is part of the R&D Department and will be located in Bangalore, IDC, India . Our vision is to continuously drive innovation and efficiency in our development processes, leveraging the latest in software and hardware technologies to meet the needs of our global customers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Cloud Operations Management- Lead cloud operations implementation, maintenance, and monitoring to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of software operations infrastructure; deliver scalable cloud operations infrastructure to streamline processes and automate operational tasks

+ Infrastructure Automation Engineering- Implement automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management using Chef, Ansible, Docker, and related automation frameworks

+ AWS Cloud Infrastructure Administration- Oversee and manage AWS cloud environments using infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) practices, ensuring consistent deployment, configuration, and environment governance

+ Monitoring, Performance, Security, and Compliance- Implement and enhance monitoring systems to ensure high availability and performance; enforce CloudOps security controls and compliance standards across cloud environments

+ Technical Documentation and Cross‑Functional Integration- Produce technical documentation including IQ protocols, reports, backup and recovery policies, support and maintenance plans, and upgrade plans; interface with SQA, Marketing, Service, Support, and project/program management during product development and delivery

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Engineering degree in computer science or equivalent with 8+ years of related work experience as a Cloud Operations engineer

+ Experience leading and managing Cloud Operations teams with responsibility for operational execution and service reliability

+ Hands‑on proficiency with AWS cloud services and containerization/orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes

+ Proficiency with CI/CD tooling including Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code development using Terraform, Puppet, or Chef

+ Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and monitoring tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ A background in leveraging AI to improve operational performance.

+ Experience working with distributed teams in a global setting.

+ Comfortable in using a wide variety of open source technologies and tools.

+ Experience with systems administration and IT operations (networks, cyber security, etc.)

+ Experience with regulated environments – tool validation and validated processes.
