the world of data integration and operations software to unlock the full
potential of industrial machines? Here’s the right internship opportunity for
you!
Join our research group, Autonomous Control and Operations,
located in Princeton, NJ, for a 3-6 month internship, and contribute to the
development and implementation of cutting-edge operations software solutions
for industrial applications. Our close contact with different business units in
Siemens provides the opportunity to contribute to and gain experience in real
industrial challenges. During this internship, you will experience the
excitement and challenges of industrial research. An internship with Siemens

Key responsibilities:
+ Contributeto industrial research projects focused on data integration and modelingfor shop floor applications.
+ Exploreand implement strategies for integrating machines and devices on aproduction line into IT/OT systems (e.g., SCADA, MES, ERP) using SiemensIndustrial Edge.
+ Developand test data collection and aggregation methods from various shop floorsystems, including OEM hardware, robots, inspection systems, shop floorAI, and HMI systems.
+ Learnto interface with Operations Software, such as Siemens Opcenter X, usingcustom applications, public APIs, or existing product functionalities.
+ Analyzeand understand the interactions between different levels of the automationpyramid to design effective data integration strategies.
+ Collaborateand exchange ideas with experts in industrial automation, operationssoftware, and IT systems across Siemens research and business units.
Basic Qualifications:
+ MSor PhD student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, ElectricalEngineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely relatedfield.
+ Programmingproficiency in Python or similar languages — including experience writingclean, modular, reusable code.
+ Foundationalunderstanding of operations software concepts and their role inmanufacturing environments.
+ Familiaritywith data integration strategies and the importance of bringing the rightdata to the right system or person at the right time.
+ Hands-onexperience with data collection and aggregation from various industrialsources.
+ Proficiencyin English, both written and verbal.
+ Legallyresiding in the United States of America and hold a valid work permit forthe US.
Preferred Qualification:
+ Practicalexperience with Industrial Edge platforms or similar edge computingsolutions for industrial applications.
+ Familiaritywith the automation pyramid and how its various levels (e.g., control,SCADA, MES, ERP) interact.
+ Understandingof IT systems, including concepts related to Docker, Kubernetes, virtualmachines, or Proxmox.
+ Experiencewith Siemens Digital Industries Software portfolio components.
+ Knowledgeof industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus TCP).
+ Experiencewith software development best practices: version control (Git), unittesting (pytest), and technical documentation.
+ Flexibilityand adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic, interdisciplinary team ofexperts across industrial engineering, software development, and datascience.
A successful candidate must be able to work with controlled
