Trayer, a Siemens business, is seeking an experienced and execution-focused **Production Manager – PreFab & Fabrication** to lead production operations across our **Livermore and San Leandro** locations. This role is responsible for driving safe, disciplined, and efficient execution across prefabrication and fabrication activities while ensuring alignment to production schedules, quality requirements, labor effectiveness, and overall plant performance expectations. This role is critical to building safe, stable, and scalable production execution across two key manufacturing locations. The Production Manager – PreFab & Fabrication will help strengthen frontline leadership, improve operating consistency, and drive the execution discipline needed to support customer delivery, quality performance, and future growth.
This role leads a broad, fabrication-focused production organization that includes **laser cutting, press brake operations, copper pre-fabrication, machine shop activities, and both automated and manual welding processes** . The ideal candidate is a strong manufacturing leader with hands-on shop-floor presence, the ability to lead through frontline teams, and the capability to identify operational gaps and drive improvements. This role requires a balance of daily execution leadership, people development, and continuous improvement across two production locations. Depending on organizational needs and candidate capability, the role may also support broader production leadership responsibilities across adjacent manufacturing areas.
**This hybrid Production Manager – PreFab & Fabrication** **position will be in either San Leandro or Livermore, CA.** **Local candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.** The East Bay offers an excellent quality of life with top-rated schools, a pleasant climate, and easy access to both mountains and the coast. **You’ll make a difference by:**
**Operational Leadership**
+ Lead daily production execution across the **PreFab & Fabrication** areas in **Livermore and San Leandro** .
+ Lead fabrication-focused operations including **laser, press brake, copper pre-fabrication, machine shop, automated welding, and manual welding** .
+ Maintain strong shop-floor presence and provide clear direction, follow-up, and escalation support to frontline leaders and teams.
+ Ensure safe operations, consistent execution, and adherence to plant EHS, quality, and operating standards.
+ Manage labor allocation, staffing priorities, and production execution to meet output and delivery targets.
+ Drive schedule attainment, productivity, and reliable throughput across both locations.
+ Identify and address bottlenecks, labor constraints, material shortages, equipment issues, and other disruptions affecting flow.
+ Ensure alignment of execution priorities and operating expectations across both sites.
+ Drive consistency in operating practices, performance expectations, and execution routines across **Livermore and San Leandro** .
**Continuous Improvement & Performance Management**
+ **Lead and contribute to continuous improvement efforts** focused on safety, flow, productivity, waste reduction, quality, and execution reliability.
+ Identify performance gaps, process weaknesses, and recurring operational issues, and drive actions to improve results.
+ Establish and reinforce visual management, performance tracking, and daily accountability routines within the department.
+ Monitor and improve key metrics including safety, throughput, labor efficiency, schedule attainment, rework, and on-time completion.
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable improvements in production flow and operational stability.
**Team Leadership & People Development**
+ Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and frontline personnel across the PreFab & Fabrication organization.
+ Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, ownership, and consistent execution.
+ Strengthen frontline leadership capability through regular coaching, clear expectations, and performance follow-up.
+ Support training, cross-training, and workforce flexibility to improve coverage, capability, and resilience.
+ Identify talent and development needs within the organization and help build bench strength for future growth.
+ Promote a work environment that supports engagement, respect, and high performance.
**Collaboration**
+ Work closely with **Planning, Material Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and EHS** to ensure production readiness and stable execution.
+ Partner with support functions to resolve technical, material, quality, and equipment-related issues affecting output and delivery.
+ Support capacity planning and operational decision-making by providing clear insight to constraints, risks, and improvement opportunities.
**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in **Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations** , or a related technical field, or equivalent production leadership experience.
+ Five (5) or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including meaningful leadership responsibility in production operations.
+ Proven people leadership experience managing frontline teams in **fabrication, prefabrication, welding, metal processing, bus fabrication, or similar industrial manufacturing operations** .
+ Demonstrated success leading supervisors, team leads, and/or hourly production employees in a fast-paced factory environment.
+ Strong understanding of production control, labor planning, daily execution management, and manufacturing performance metrics.
+ Demonstrated ability to identify operational gaps, drive corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement in a factory environment.
+ Proven ability to lead and develop frontline leaders and production teams.
+ Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team leadership skills.
+ Ability to operate effectively across multiple production locations and maintain alignment in execution standards and expectations.
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience in **switchgear, electrical equipment manufacturing, or other engineered-to-order industrial production environments** .
+ Familiarity with **SAP and ERP systems** in a manufacturing setting.
+ Experience with **Lean Manufacturing** , visual management, and structured continuous improvement methods.
+ Experience partnering with planning, materials, quality, engineering, maintenance, employee union functions.
+ English proficiency required; additional language capability is a plus.
