**What you will do**
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world.
Part of Amgen’s R&D Strategy & Operations organization, the R&D Knowledge & Learning team is responsible for enabling scientific excellence, clinical execution, and regulatory rigor through world-class knowledge, learning, and performance support. We operate role-based learning & development, knowledge management, scientific and therapeutic area training, library and subscription services, and enabling technologies.
The Senior Manager, R&D Knowledge & Learning Capabilities Lead serves as the architect and optimizer of the Knowledge & Learning operating system. This role is accountable for designing, governing, and continuously improving the capabilities, operating models, standards, and enabling technologies that allow the global R&D Knowledge & Learning organization to scale with speed, quality, and compliance.
This leader works horizontally across Knowledge Management, Learning Business Partners, scientific/product/therapeutic training teams, GxP Training, and global learning operations, strengthening how these capabilities function individually and together. The role also evaluates and responsibly applies automation, AI, and ML-enabled approaches to improve knowledge flow, onboarding & learning effectiveness, and operational efficiency, ensuring innovation is intentional, governed, and value-driven.
**Responsibilities**
**Knowledge & Learning Capability Architecture**
+ Design and continuously evolve the end-to-end knowledge, learning, and onboarding operating model, ensuring clarity of roles, decision rights, workflows, and integration across KM, functional learning, scientific training, and delivery enablement
+ Define onboarding as a strategic capability – focused on role readiness, risk-based learning, and accelerated time-to-productivity – rather than a one-time event
+ Identify systemic gaps, redundancies, and bottlenecks across the knowledge and learning ecosystem and lead targeted capability improvements
**Operating Model, Standards & Lifecycle Governance**
+ Establish and govern standards, methodologies, and lifecycle discipline that apply across learning, knowledge assets, and performance support (discover > design > build/buy > launch > sustain > retire)
+ Develop and maintain standard work (playbooks, templates, RACIs) that enable repeatable, scalable execution across all knowledge and learning offerings
**Operational Excellence**
+ Lead redesign and optimization of knowledge, learning, and onboarding processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and experience
+ Partner with AIN Learning Enablement, KM, GxP, and Global Learning Ops to ensure seamless end-to-end management of enabling infrastructure (e.g., LMS/LXP, knowledge platforms, automation tools)
**Portfolio, Measurement & Insight**
+ Enable portfolio-level governance and prioritization across knowledge, learning, and onboarding investments, ensuring transparency, alignment, and effective resource utilization
+ Define and implement KPIs spanning time-to-productivity, role readiness, adoption, effectiveness, and value realization
+ Produce executive-ready insights to guide decision-making and continuous improvement
**Capability Uplift & Enablement**
+ Strengthen the capability of Knowledge & Learning professionals through coaching, frameworks, and targeted enablement (e.g., portfolio thinking, lifecycle management, instructional design rigor, KM best practices)
+ Serve as a thought partner to Knowledge & Learning leaders, enabling consistent maturity and performance across teams
**Automation, AI & Innovation Enablement**
+ Evaluate, pilot, and guide the responsible application of automation, AI, and ML across knowledge, onboarding, and learning (e.g., content management, personalization, analytics, workflow automation)
+ Partner with AI&D, DTI, Quality GxP, and governance bodies to ensure solutions are validated, scalable, and compliant
+ Translate emerging technologies into practical, value-generating use cases for the Knowledge & Learning ecosystem
**Change Leadership & Integration**
+ Lead change management for new standards, operating models, and technologies to ensure adoption and sustained impact
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning innovation, and cross-capability collaboration
Basic Qualification:
+ Any Degree and 12 – 17 years of experience in the relevant field.
