At Leica Biosystems in Vista, CA, we engineer and manufacture Digital pathology scanners, which are high precision and automated electro-mechanical instruments for high resolution scanning of pathological samples.  Our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

The Senior Engineer, AI Software you will play a key role in the software development, integration, releasing and performance of AI-driven digital pathology solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Deep Learning scientists, software developers, and product teams to design and implement robust development strategies. This role emphasizes code development, bug fixing, unit and system testing, integration, and releasing in a regulated environment. You will act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.

You will report to the Manager, Software Development, and will be based onsite, in Vista, CA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Develop/improve features for our AI-based software solutions.

+ Build, develop, and release AI based software systems using Go, JavaScript/Typescript, SQL, AWS, HTML/CSS, Docker in a Linux/Windows environment.

+ Collaborate with management, software developers, AI developers, 3rd party developers and product team to define software requirements.

+ Build, develop, and release AI based systems using Go, JavaScript/Typescript, SQL, AWS, HTML/CSS, Docker in a Linux/Windows environment.

+ Support the field to troubleshoot complex issues across hardware and software layers, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our processes and tools.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

+ Current software development experience with Go or C#, JavaScript/Typescript, SQL, AWS, HTML/CSS, Docker in a Linux environment.

+ 4+ years of experience of software development in an Agile environment.

+ Experience with rigorous discipline around check-in, code review and  source control (i.e. GitHub, Bitbucket, SVN, Perforce).

+ Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, R, PowerShell, or JavaScript.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience:

+ Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes), along with familiarity with enterprise IT infrastructure including servers and lab automation systems.

+ Strong understanding of medical device regulations, design control processes, and cybersecurity standards and best practices.

+ Experience with AI/ML technologies and digital pathology workflows, supporting innovation in healthcare and diagnostics.

The salary range for this role is $120k – $135k This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. #L1-WT1
