**We are looking for a Senior Power Systems Consultant** to join Grid Software’s Power Technologies International (PTI) team. PTI is our trusted advisor that takes a holistic approach, providing business advisory, technical consulting, and simulation software solutions. This role is essential to the planning and integration of renewables, storage, and FACTS to the electrical grid. The Senior Power Systems Consultant will perform large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for Utilities, Regional Transmission Organizations, and energy asset owners to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations.
**This is a remote position based in the contiguous U.S.**
**What you will be working on:**
+ Leading and performing advanced power system studies, including system dynamics, electromagnetic transients, interconnection analysis, and grid code compliance using industry-standard tools.
+ Performing and reviewing detailed modeling and simulation work for synchronous machines, inverter-based resources, and control systems.
+ Managing and supporting technical project execution by tracking milestones, validating study assumptions, and ensuring work meets defined technical scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
+ Developing, validating, and documenting study methodologies and assumptions, and producing detailed technical reports and client-ready presentations.
+ Collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to interpret study results and resolve complex system performance issues.
+ Providing technical mentorship to junior consultants on modeling approaches, simulation techniques, and established guidelines.
+ Designing and implementing automation scripts and workflows to enhance model development, study execution, post-processing, and quality control.
+ Supporting on-site technical consulting engagements and delivering specialized training on power system modeling, simulation tools, and study methodologies.
**Minimum requirements:**
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering with a focus in Power Systems Engineering.
+ 5+ years of experience in power system studies, with strong hands-on expertise in **PSCAD** and electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations.
+ Proven experience developing, validating, and troubleshooting detailed PSCAD models for inverter-based resources, renewable generation, energy storage systems, and grid-connected power electronics.
+ Experience performing EMT studies for grid compliance, including fault ride-through, control interactions, harmonic and subsynchronous interaction analysis.
+ Experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E required
+ Familiarity with utility and regional transmission organization requirements and standards (for example: ERCOT, SPP, WECC, PJM, Southern Company, or similar).
+ Experience supporting interconnection studies, system impact studies, or facility studies.
+ Ability to lead technical workstreams and review technical deliverables
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical findings to clients, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
+ Strong communication, presentation, and listening skills with demonstrated ability to write effective technical reports.
+ Ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Ph.D. in electrical engineering with a focus in Power Systems Engineering
+ Additional experience with platforms like TSAT™, TARA, PSLF™, or PowerWorld preferred.
+ Good knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards with understanding of RTO and other regional planning criteria, procedures, and practices.
+ Experience leading, mentoring, or developing others professionally.
