**ABOUT THE ROLE**
**Role Title:** Senior Associate – Master Data Management (MDM)
**Location:** Amgen Innovation Center, India
**Role Description:**
The Senior Associate – MDM will be a key member of the GCO Commercial Data Management team in the Amgen Innovation Center in India. This role will support the operations of Amgen’s core commercial MDM platform, focusing on high-quality master data management across key domains (Provider, Payer, Product, Patient, Consent, and related entities).
The Senior Associate will work closely with MDM leads in India and global stakeholders across US and O-US to execute operational data stewardship deliverables, support transitions from external vendors, and contribute to continuous improvement of MDM processes, data quality, and governance. The role is hands-on, with growing responsibility for owning specific processes or workstreams and mentoring junior team members.
**ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**1. MDM Operations & Data Stewardship**
+ Execute day-to-day master data operations across key domains (e.g., HCP/HCO, Affiliations, Plan/Payer, Product, Patient, Consent) in line with business rules and SOPs.
+ Perform data curation, validation, enrichment, de-duplication, and mastering to ensure high-quality, consistent master data across systems.
+ Manage and resolve data issues and requests raised by stakeholders, downstream systems, and support channels; escalate complex items to senior team members where required.
+ Support end-to-end data quality processes, including running checks, identifying anomalies, and proposing remediation plans.
+ Ensure all activities comply with local regulations, Amgen privacy standards, and compliance SOPs for all Master Data domains.
**2. Support Governance, Documentation & Process Quality**
+ Maintain and update process documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and data dictionaries for assigned domains or processes.
+ Contribute to governance programs by applying updated policies, business rules, and stewardship guidelines to day-to-day work.
+ Support the design and enhancement of data quality metrics and dashboards, helping to track and communicate data health to stakeholders.
+ Provide inputs to improve workflow efficiency and reduce manual effort where possible.
**3. Collaboration Across Data Platforms & Stakeholder Teams**
+ Work closely with Data Platforms, Patient Data Management, and Data Acquisition & Governance teams to understand upstream and downstream dependencies on MDM.
+ Collaborate with stakeholder teams in India and globally (e.g., Secondary Analytics, Forecasting, Incentive Compensation, Field Reporting, Technology) to support MDM-based data products and stewardship protocols.
+ Partner with Technology/IT teams in India and US to log, track, and validate system enhancements, incidents, and defects related to MDM platforms and interfaces.
+ Participate in Agile Product Teams where relevant, supporting backlog items, user story refinement, testing, and documentation.
**4. Transition & Insourcing Support**
+ Support transition and insourcing activities from external vendors to Amgen India for scoped operational data management services.
+ Assist in knowledge transfer (KT) by documenting processes, shadowing vendor teams, and validating understanding through dry runs and parallel processing.
+ Help ensure that transitioned work meets operational readiness criteria, including documentation completeness, access, and process clarity.
**5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation**
+ Identify recurring issues, process gaps, and improvement opportunities in MDM operations and propose practical solutions.
+ Support senior team members in Proof of Concept (POC) efforts on new tools, technologies (including Gen AI / LLM-based solutions), and automation use cases (e.g., anomaly detection, automated matching and de-duplication).
+ Contribute to design discussions with peers and data platform teams on building MDM and consumer-centric data products, including consent, payer, and affiliations datasets.
+ Act as a role model for collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, and provide informal guidance/mentoring to junior associates where applicable.
**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
+ 5 – 9 years of relevant experience in Master Data Management, data management, data operations, or related data/analytics roles.
+ Experience working with commercial or customer data in a global or matrixed environment (life sciences / healthcare domain preferred).
+ Comfortable working with global teams across time zones and cultures.
+ Strong English oral and written communication skills.
**FUNCTIONAL SKILLS**
**Must-Have Skills**
+ Hands-on experience with MDM operations and data stewardship (e.g., data creation, updates, merges, de-duplication, data quality checks).
+ Solid understanding of MDM concepts, data models, and best practices, ideally covering domains such as HCP, HCO, Affiliations, Payer/Plan, Product, Patient, and Consent.
+ Experience with data platforms / MDM tools such as Reltio, Informatica, or similar technologies.
+ Working knowledge of SQL, Excel and/or other analytical tools for data validation, root-cause analysis, and reporting.
+ Exposure to cloud and data platforms (e.g., AWS, Redshift, Databricks or similar) and their role in data management.
+ Demonstrated ability to support data quality, governance, and compliance activities.
+ Strong learning agility to understand end-to-end commercial data flows and interdependencies, and to adapt to new tools and methodologies.
**Good-to-Have Skills**
+ Experience working with syndicated commercial data sets (e.g., IQVIA DDD, XPO, LAAD), CRM data for call planning, Patient Hub or Specialty Pharmacy datasets.
+ Exposure to life sciences commercial data supporting stakeholders in Analytics, Reporting, Decision Sciences, or Forecasting.
+ Familiarity with global compliance and data privacy requirements in handling customer and patient data.
+ Experience working in multinational settings with teams from different countries.
+ Exposure to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar Agile methodologies.
**SOFT SKILLS**
