Our Electrical Products business unit in Smart Infrastructure develops low and medium-voltage technology and solutions for power systems.
**We are looking for a Spring 2027 (January – May or August) Automation Engineer Co-op as part of the Operations Leadership Development Program with our Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products division. This position is based in Grand Prairie, Texas.**
This co-op will prepare you for a potential opportunity with our two-year rotational Operations Leadership Development Program and other entry-level roles upon graduation.
**You’ll make an impact by:**
+ Supporting the design and implementation of automation solutions that improve manufacturing capacity and material flow.
+ Developing and validating automation solutions, system architectures, and process requirements.
+ Integrating automation technologies with factory equipment, controls, and operational technology systems.
+ Configuring and testing automation systems to validate functionality, routes, processes, and factory requirements.
+ Collaborating with equipment manufacturers, system integrators, and cross-functional engineering teams to implement solutions.
+ Documenting system architectures, technical requirements, implementation processes, and automation solutions.
+ Troubleshooting technical issues and support resolution during system deployment and commissioning.
+ Partnering with manufacturing, industrial engineering, logistics, and automation teams to deliver factory technology initiatives.
**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications**
+ Juniors, Seniors, and graduate students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related majors
+ Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Texas Arlington at the time of the co-op
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, reporting, and documentation
+ Basic knowledge of systems engineering concepts
+ Available to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm) from January 2027 to May 2027 or August 2027
+ Eligible candidates must have reliable transportation and be located within 50 miles of Grand Prairie, TX as this role does not provide housing or relocation support
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
+ This internship/co-op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career/ Leadership Development opportunities.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Demonstrated understanding of automation, controls, robotics, electrical systems, and manufacturing principles.
+ Familiarity with mechanical systems, engineering drawings, PLCs, sensors, or industrial communication technologies.
+ Exposure to system integration, robotics, AMRs, machine tending, SCADA, 5G, or related automation technologies.
+ Ability to analyze technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support engineering solutions.
+ Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across engineering and factory teams.
+ Familiarity with technical documentation, basic data analysis, and tools such as Confluence.
