Description
The EHS Coordinator is responsible for Supporting prevent workplace injuries and illnesses and for supporting the sites compliance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
The role requires staying current with relevant EHS laws and maintaining a structured and detail-oriented approach to implementation and documentation. Key expectations include conducting periodic inspections of workplaces and equipment and identifying and mitigating potential hazards, such as unsafe work practices, elevated noise levels, contaminated drinking water, poor air quality, and exposure to hazardous chemicals. The EHS function plays an important role in protecting associates and promoting a safe and healthy working environment.
This position is part of the Manufacturing and will be on Site located in Bengaluru, Cepheid India .
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
· Collaborate with management to execute company EHS policies.
· Lead the development of site EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) plans in accordance with applicable requirements.
· Manage day-to-day EHS activities, including life and fire safety programs and safety audits. Conduct workplace exposure and environmental measurements (e.g., noise and illumination/lux) as required.
· Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements (local and national) and maintain required EHS documentation.
· Coordinate compliance renewals and reporting with regulatory authorities (e.g., Pollution Control Board) for air, water, and hazardous waste management, as well as EPR requirements (plastic, batteries, e-waste), Radiation Source Compliance Requirements with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board and ensure alignment with new or updated regulations as they are issued.
· By using lean principles, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates.
· Communicate clearly and consistently, both verbally and in writing, to promote EHS awareness across the organization.
· Provide EHS support to operations, primarily in production and warehouse areas, and as needed in laboratory operations.
· Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.
· Participate in safety inspections and safety committee activities; conduct risk assessments; and report TRFR and leading and lagging safety metrics on a monthly basis.
· Work with ergonomics, energetics, chemicals, exposures, and environment etc.
· Develop, implement, and revise work instructions and EHS policies as needed.
· Assess site performance against published safety requirements; identify gaps and define implementation plans to address deficiencies.
· Maintain safety records and data integrity and provide management with accurate reporting and metrics to support EHS initiatives.
· Audit recordkeeping practices and Safety Database entries to ensure compliance to Cepheid global safety standards and local regulations.
· Lead Annual Health Checkup Campaign for all Associates.
· Audit the workplace, labs and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
· Active stake holder for Design Develop, Execute, & Validate Capacity Expansion Projects like STP, ETP, Haz Waste Storage, Safety Enhancement Projects.
