The **Electrification and Automation (EA)** division of **Siemens Smart Infrastructure** provides a full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for customers across all markets and channels. As an intern, you’ll support reliable power distribution grids used today while gaining exposure to our Future Grids technologies that are helping shape the power systems of tomorrow.
**We are seeking qualified candidates for our Electrical Design Engineering Internship beginning in May or June 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.**
**You’ll make an impact by:**
+ Supporting electrical design projects, including drawing updates and design revisions.
+ Specifying custom mechanical bills of material for multiple product lines and supporting engineering automation initiatives.
+ Assisting with troubleshooting production support issues and implementing design improvements.
+ Creating and updating engineering drawings and documentation, including wiring diagrams, tube marker files, and label drawings.
+ Collaborating with engineering and production teams to support electrical automation activities.
**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
+ Experience with AutoCAD and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
+ Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12-week summer internship.
+ Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
+ This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience supporting electrical design projects, drawing updates, or design revisions.
+ Experience creating engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of material, or technical documentation.
+ Experience supporting production, assembly, or engineering automation activities.
+ Experience with Siemens tools such as SAP, SieOps, AutoCAD, Teamcenter, or NX.
+ Strong communication, leadership, time management, critical thinking, conflict resolution, or emotional intelligence skills.
