**Position Overview:**
The HVAC Service Rail Technician is a skilled field-based role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems on passenger rail coaches and locomotives to ensure reliable performance and passenger comfort. Working both independently and collaboratively with engineering and maintenance teams, this position supports fleet availability, equipment reliability, and safe rail operations. As a key member of the maintenance organization, this role offers the opportunity to work on specialized rail equipment, solving complex technical challenges, and make a visible impact on customer experience
**What your day-to-day will look like:**
+ Troubleshoot HVAC system issues on a daily basis using diagnostic tools and equipment, including HVAC software, temperature sensors, and leak detectors.
+ Replace defective components and perform brazing of copper piping as needed
+ Vacuum and pressurize HVAC units using Nitrogen in accordance with established procedures and safety standards
+ Recover and handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations

**To thrive in this role, you have:**
+ Technical education in HVAC / Refrigeration
+ EPA Universal certification
+ Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience performing HVAC work, including service, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and system installations
+ Electrical troubleshooting experience
+ Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, based on operational needs.
**Physical Demands:**
+ Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
+ Ability to stand for multiple hours at a time
