The **Electrification and Automation (EA)** division of **Siemens Smart Infrastructure** provides a full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for customers across all markets and channels. As an intern, you’ll support reliable power distribution grids used today while gaining exposure to our Future Grids technologies that are helping shape the power systems of tomorrow.

**We are seeking qualified candidates for our Mechanical Design Engineering** **Summer – Fall** **Co-Op beginning in May 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.**

**You’ll make an impact by:**

+ Supporting mechanical design and 3D modeling projects, including drawing updates and design revisions.

+ Assisting with troubleshooting production support issues and implementing design improvements.

+ Supporting requests for special tools and fixtures to improve production and assembly processes.

+ Creating and updating engineering drawings and documentation for new and existing products.

+ Collaborating with engineering and production teams to support prototype builds and hands-on development activities.

**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

+ Candidates must be enrolled with the North Carolina State University co-op program.

+ Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) during the Summer and Fall 2027 semesters.

+ Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.

+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

+ This co-op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience with 3D modeling projects, engineering drawings, design revisions, or mechanical design activities.

+ Experience troubleshooting production support issues or implementing design improvements.

+ Experience supporting prototype builds, hands-on development activities, or manufacturing environments.

+ Experience with Siemens tools such as SAP, SieOps, AutoCAD, Teamcenter, or NX.

+ Strong communication, leadership, time management, critical thinking, conflict resolution, or emotional intelligence skills.
