The Strategic Technology and Economic Foresight Department strengthens ODNI’s ability to anticipate, assess, and respond to global technological and economic competition. The department delivers analytic rigor, foresight, and strategic assessments that help ODNI understand emerging technologies, geopolitical dependencies, economic risk, and supply chain vulnerabilities. It ensures MITRE provides clear, actionable insights that enable senior leaders to protect national advantage, strengthen resilience, and shape whole-of-government responses to global shifts.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Strategic Technology and Economic Foresight Department seeks a Principal AI T&E Project Leader for an ODNI IARPA program. We are seeking a motivated and creative Project Leader with proven experience in project management, technical and thought leadership in the AI space, fostering and managing sponsor relations, and team development. As a Principal Project Leader, you will be accountable for the overall direction, work shaping, programmatic support, internal and external coordination, execution, and outcomes of MITRE work for the sponsor’s evolving research objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Programmatic and Technical Leadership for AI T&E

+ Serve as the senior execution lead for AI T&E, ensuring disciplined delivery of testing and evaluation activities across supported programs.

+ Translate sponsor objectives into executable test strategies, resource plans, and integrated schedules aligned to mission timelines.

+ Provide informed judgment on scope, sequencing, risk management, and execution tradeoffs to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of evaluation outcomes.

+ Partner with the Department Manager and Chief Scientist Engineer to align execution discipline with methodological rigor and technical credibility.

Integration and Cross-Program Collaboration

+ Coordinate with sponsor Program Managers, MITRE Project Leaders, and technical staff to ensure coherent execution across multiple work efforts.

+ Collaborate with Division-level technical leadership to ensure alignment with broader NID priorities and standards.

+ Promote disciplined execution practices while enabling flexibility and agility to address mission-specific requirements.

Quality and Delivery Discipline

+ Oversee execution quality of evaluation plans, schedules, deliverables, and sponsor engagements.

+ Ensure documentation, reporting, and communication of results meet expectations for clarity, transparency, and technical credibility.

+ Maintain focus on measurable outcomes, sponsor satisfaction, and enterprise impact.

Workforce Leadership and Mission Engagement

+ Mentor and guide staff contributing to T&E activities, strengthening program execution capability within N921.

+ Actively engage in sponsor discussions and technical exchanges as a hands-on leader rather than a purely managerial role.

+ Ensure evaluation efforts contribute directly to mission-relevant outcomes and durable capability advancement across ODNI programs.

+ Actively communicate across the Department, the Division, and IARPA to ensure stakeholders are well informed and cognizant of ongoing and planned T&E activities, demonstrations, and program transition activities.

Basic Qualifications:

+ Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

+ Demonstrated ability to deliver clear and concise deliverables to Government sponsors.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage a staff in the production of deliverables for Government sponsors.

+ Demonstrated ability to work with staff on other tasks to share applicable information to improve MITRE support to Government sponsors.

+ Demonstrated leadership of AI T&E activities.

+ Active TS/SCI with CI polygraph.

+ U.S. Citizenship required

+ This position has an on-site requirement 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related technical field.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$191,200 – $239,000 – $286,800 Annual
