Sr. Associate – Antibody Discovery and Screening (12-month contract)

Amgen British Columbia, located in Metro Vancouver, Canada, is a research center of excellence focused primarily on the discovery of biologics, including fully human therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. We are seeking a highly motivated, early career researcher to join Antibody Discovery and Screening Team. The incumbent will complement an innovative group with a strong track record of success in pioneering novel antibody-based therapeutics to treat grievous illnesses. The role is laboratory based and will utilize high-throughput screening platforms, nanofluidic technologies and liquid handling automation systems. While the primary focus is large molecule assay development, the successful candidate will be integrated in the broader Biologics Discovery team, with the opportunity to impact development of new large molecule discovery platforms and therapeutic lead identification.

**Responsibilities include but not limited to:**

+ Planning, developing and executing on screening assays to identify and characterize monoclonal antibodies or domain binders to support early stage biologic drug discovery programs

+ Play a critical role on project teams, frequently engaging and discussing data across functional groups to develop best-in-class therapeutics

+ Well-suited applicants will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity, and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment

+ Creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges

**Basic Qualifications:**

Master’s degree

**Or**

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences and 2 years of experience in one or more antibody discovery technologies

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ 2+ years’ experience in one or more antibody discovery technologies (e.g. hybridoma, display platforms, single-B cell recovery, nanoscale screening, gel microdrop, etc.)

+ Knowledge of high throughput methods and assay development to support biologic molecule screening

+ Experience with flow cytometry, cellular imaging, ELISA assays and analysis an asset

+ Experience with laboratory liquid handling and automation an asset

+ Mammalian tissue culture; primary cell culture skills an asset

+ Advanced scientific analysis skills and an ability to collaborate effectively

+ Experience in a working environment requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills across a broad range of audiences

+ Experience in a role requiring strong problem solving and scientific skills

The salary range for this role in Canada is $80,000 – $119,000 CAD.
