**Sr Engineer (Single Use Systems Engineering)**

**What you will do**

In this vital role you will be responsible for planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance technical support of Amgen manufacturing infrastructure, world-wide. The Engineering Technical Authority (ETA) is responsible for technical direction, leadership, guidance and support for a specific array of process systems within an area of responsibility, such as Upstream Processes, Downstream Processes, Single Use Systems, Fill/Finish, CIP/SIP, Utilities, HVAC, Packaging, Devices, etc. Through their team(s) of global and site technical domain experts, the ETA will demonstrate engineering expertise both in the company and industry to optimize the life cycle management of Amgen’s assets, and is accountable for performance and reliability across multiple sites.

This position is in the Single Use Systems (SUS) ETA team, the position is for a Single Use technology and Assembly Design SME in support of Drug Substance and Drug Product Engineering and Manufacturing.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Evaluate Single Use Systems (SUS) designs to make sure they follow engineering standards, specifications, and industry best practices across Amgen network

+ Partner with multi-functional collaborators in Quality, Supply Chain, Materials Sciences, Process Development, and Manufacturing to establish requirements and design standards for new SUS technologies and capabilities

+ Provide engineering support to vendor selection and management, issue investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation for SUS components and assemblies

+ Support commissioning and qualification of SUS equipment and systems, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and good engineering practices

+ Support operations and maintenance of SUS equipment and systems, providing fixing, reliability analysis, and system optimization

+ Conduct and/or oversee engineering studies, experiments, and validations to support the design, development, and qualification of SUS components and assemblies

**This role involves travel up to 15% including overnight stays.**

**This position is located in Cambridge, MA (AMA), but may also be located in, Thousand Oaks, CA (ATO), West Greenwich, RI (ARI), Holly Springs, NC (ANC) or Juncos, PR (AML).**

**Basic Qualifications:**

Doctorate degree

**Or**

Master’s degree and 2 years of Engineering or Operations experience

**Or**

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Engineering or Operations experience

**Or**

Associate’s degree and 8 years of Engineering or Operations experience

**Or**

High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Engineering or Operations experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Master’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Sciences or Life Sciences

+ 5+ years of Engineering or technical experience in an engineering environment, with specific specialized expertise in the design, specification and management of Single Use Components for use in Biotech or related/applicable experience, or in the manufacturing of process components from plastics, polymers and elastomers

+ Experience providing process engineering support in biotech/pharmaceutical industry supporting pilot/clinical/commercial manufacturing

+ Strong understanding of GMP equipment design and biologics manufacturing requirements

+ Ability to manage and deliver results in a highly fluid, multi-functional matrixed environment

+ Excellent communications skills, strong facilitation talent, and executive presence to drive multi-functional objectives across Amgen’s international network.
