The NGS Field Application Scientist (FAS) provides technical field support for IDT’s Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) customers regarding product design, customer training and end use. Our FAS team assists Sales to identify, convert and support potential/existing NGS customers. The field team advocates for the voice of customer to collaborate with internal cross-functional teams for future NGS product development.

This position is part of the Sales organization and will be based out of the San Francisco Bay Area and will support the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Provide technical support for IDT NGS customers focused on pre-sales enablement.

+ Support local sales team in technical customer discussions, presentations, and trainings.

+ Collaborate with Product Management, Applications Support, and Customer Care to identify key customer requirements for future product development efforts.

+ Work closely with Marketing and Sales to ensure the value of the NGS product line is communicated clearly and effectively to customers.

+ Represent IDT’s NGS products to the molecular biology community at large, including communicating established technologies at industry trade shows; Provide support for new emerging NGS applications in which xGen products may be employed.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelor’s degree (in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field)

+ 3+ years demonstrated experience in Illumina NGS instrument set up and use, DNA & RNA library preparation from cfDNA, blood, FFPE and NGS molecular bench techniques (library prep QC, PCR and target enrichment via hybridization capture).

+ Ability to travel domestically up to 60%.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Other sequencing manufacturer library prep techniques (PacBio, Oxford Nanopore, Element Biosciences etc.)

+ NGS Bioinformatics, targeted sequencing analysis.

+ Master’s degree or PhD

The salary range for this role is 120,000 – 130,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
