Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for leading, planning, and implementing the consumer marketing strategy and all patient-focused touch-points critical to the commercial success of UPLIZNA.

Critical to the role will be developing and evangelizing an in-depth understanding of the consumers in NMOSD, gMG, and IgG4-RD. The candidate will be responsible for strengthening brand awareness, driving patient acquisition and defining and implementing opportunities to disrupt this competitive space.

The ideal candidate will use diverse elements of the marketing mix to deliver an excellent patient experience, while continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our communications.

This individual will have Rare Disease experience, preferably in neurology and/or immunology. They will have deep patient marketing experience and brand launch experience. They understand and prioritize the nuances and the importance of connecting HCP and Patient strategies.

The Head of Consumer Marketing is a critical leader within the UPLIZNA Marketing team, with a team of direct and indirect reports, and is the primary voice of the consumer/patient on a cross-functional team that includes internal and external partners. This position will also be responsible for leading and managing patient focused agencies and media strategy across multiple consumer audiences.

**Responsibilities include:**

+ Leading the evolution and implementation of an innovative, powerful multi-channel consumer marketing plan, from media and communication strategy to patient onboarding and engagement.

+ Producing compelling campaigns across consumer audiences through the development of breakthrough creative including video, digital, social, website, email/CRM and POC.

+ Ownership of the consumer-focused campaigns including new creative executions.

+ Fostering a culture that celebrates a team of diverse experiences and backgrounds and elevating staff’s marketing potential through development and coaching.

+ Creating a highly collaborative and effective cross-functional team that challenges conventions and seeks to set a new standard for patient connectivity.

+ Supports/develops, leads and manages the patient advocacy and patient opinion leader engagement strategy including a Patient Speaker Bureau, patient programs executed by the field or brand team, develops strong relationships with key patients, advocacy groups and other entities.

+ Lead presence at society and advocacy meetings; support field-based marketing in the execution of local and digital patient and family educational events.

+ Leading refinement and expansion of robust, data-driven digital, social and mobile plan to engage and activate consumers at critical moments in the patient journey.

+ Systematically develop and track metrics for media mix, consumer engagement and advertising effectiveness, while linking to the broader success metrics of the brand

+ Building a seamless, lock-step partnership with critical partners such as corporate affairs, advocacy, value communications and health-care professional marketing

+ Cross functional leadership to gain alignment in focus and timing with internal partners both strategically and tactically.

+ Coordinating and driving focused market research plans to generate insights further driving plan and creative optimization and performance.

+ Leadership of all consumer-related agencies to hold them accountable to the highest standards of performance.

**Basic Qualifications:**

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Marketing experience

**Or**

Master’s degree and 7 years of Marketing experience

**Or**

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Marketing experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor’s degree required. MBA (or equivalent, e.g., PharmD) preferred

+ 10+ years’ experience in commercial roles in the biopharmaceutical industry and/or Consumer Package Goods marketing

+ Experience working within creative or media agencies

+ Technical marketing competencies: Marketplace/consumer analysis and insight generation, consumer segmentation, brand positioning, brand sustainability (campaign/message platform development), execution excellence (multi-channel development and metric development/tracking)

+ Multi-channel media plan development, including innovative digital, social, mobile initiatives

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team in aligning to a common vision, and towards the development of individual staff members for improved performance and achievement of career aspirations

+ Strong ability in both leading cross-functional teams, and in being a member of a cross-functional team

+ Strong communication effectiveness: The ability to effectively engage, connect, and influence senior management and the sales and marketing organizations across both Amgen and our commercialization partner.

+ Ability to translate and communicate complex information/strategies into simple and impactful execution plans

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
