**About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:**
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid, focused on photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation and protection.
**This hybrid Mechanical Engineer – 3D Designer position is based at our corporate headquarters in Wendell, NC** . Located in the heart of the Research Triangle about 20 minutes east of Raleigh, Wendell offers top-rated schools, a mild climate, easy access to mountains and coast, and a cost of living that allows our compensation to go further. **_Local candidates are strongly encouraged to apply_** **.** Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates **.**
**You’ll** ** make an impact by:**
+ Work with guidance from assigned mentor and Sr. Engineer to design models of parts and assemblies for energy management equipment from concept to completed 3D model
+ Be a critical part of a custom designed-to-order business focused on unique customer requirements
+ Work directly with the factory manufacturing team addressing any challenges as they produce your designs
+ Help improve our products by working collaboratively to identify design enhancements and then working to integrate them
+ Create Bills of Materials, develop new assemblies, validate functionality, and release the part/assemblies to production
**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (must be completed before start date)
+ One (1) or more years’ experience in 3D modeling on the job or demonstrated knowledge on school projects
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with mechanical design for medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear and electrical products.
+ Experience with sheet metal design.
