Imagine conducting your postdoctoral work with leading scientists in the field of cardiometabolic disease at Amgen’s global headquarters and research site in Thousand Oaks, California.
We are hiring a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to drive an independent research project as part of a core team of cross-functional scientists and critical thinkers, focused on improving the lives of patients with cardiometabolic diseases, including obesity and heart failure, with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF).
In this vital role, you will have access to Amgen’s cutting-edge technologies and innovation and be expected to make exciting scientific contributions to the field, present at scientific conferences, and publish your work. This position is part of the broader R&D Postdoc Program, which has a track record of training the next generation of scientists for careers at well-respected scientific institutions. An overwhelming majority of our postdocs go on to advance their careers in industry at leading pharma and biotech companies, including many at Amgen.
We are looking for a highly talented, self-motivated individual who is passionate about making high-impact discoveries to improve the lives of patients suffering from cardiac and metabolic diseases. The postdoctoral fellow will take a multi-disciplinary approach combining in vivo animal models, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and single-cell RNA sequencing to improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of HFpEF and co-morbidities driven by metabolic dysfunction in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle.

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ PhD at the time of appointment
**Preferred** **Qualifications**
+ PhD focused on topics in cardiovascular or metabolic diseases.
+ Broad knowledge of cardiometabolic biology with demonstrated independent research eminence through first-author publications in top journals.
+ Specific expertise and a record of publication in cardiac, skeletal muscle, and/or adipose cell biology.
+ Research experience with rodent models of cardiac and/or metabolic diseases, in-vitro experience with cultured cell lines, and molecular profiling of cells using single-cell technologies.
+ Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
+ A passion to explore the unknown and make discoveries that will chart new areas of biology.
**Salary: $82,000**
