**Senior Principal Scientist – Medicinal Chemistry**

**What you will do**

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will be part of an innovative Medicinal Chemistry team with responsibilities centering around using Medicinal Chemistry principles to support the design and discovery of novel compounds for potential clinical drug development. At this level, you would independently work on a project to devise and implement creative scientific strategies to address complex and cross-functional drug discovery issues.

+ Manage a team of Medicinal Chemistry research scientists within a collaborative environment to drive drug discovery process

+ Lead small molecule drug discovery programs and determine Medicinal Chemistry team direction to advance one or more projects

+ Regularly communicate progress and strategy in various forums to senior leadership

+ Serve as a scientific resource to the department and broader organization who will champion new technologies/ideas to enhance capabilities and train future leaders in medicinal chemistry.

+ Provide professional development guidance and/or coaching to colleagues within group, as well as other cross-functional colleagues

**Basic Qualifications:**

Doctorate degree and 3 years of Organic Synthesis / Chemistry experience

**Or**

Master’s degree and 6 years of Organic Synthesis / Chemistry experience

**Or**

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Organic Synthesis / Chemistry experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ PhD in Organic Synthesis / Chemistry with 10+ years of in Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry experience

+ Experience leading Medicinal Chemistry teams/programs and delivering candidates for clinical development

+ Strong track record of academic / professional accomplishments

+ Provision of creative medicinal and synthetic chemistry problem solving and sophisticated design strategy to enable the discovery of development candidates via their teams

+ Demonstrated ability to create milestone compounds which advance program goals

+ Expert in modern medicinal and synthetic chemistry approaches to enable others

+ Provision of medicinal chemistry insight and in-depth data interpretation to inform decision making at the project team and leadership levels

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey key insights and messaging at various forums

+ Experience managing several direct reports and their professional development

+ Ability to set project direction and enable direct reports to achieve project goals

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
