Position Title: Solutions Applications Engineer
Salary: $116,672 – $150,144 / Year
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week
Summary of Duties: Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals and solutions that best fit customer needs, while ensuring competitive pricing. Work closely with Siemens Sales to prepare offers supporting customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on technical, contractual, and commercial issues. Review customer specifications, commercial/technical documents, and product requirements. Identify and define the preliminary scope of work for a complete solution that fits the customer specifications. Prepare technical configurations for the electrical products using Siemens tools and collaborate with Engineers within the Electrification and Automation Business Unit to generate technical solutions for Siemens products. Prepare 2D layout drawings, or in some cases 3D drawings, to demonstrate the idea of the intended solution/scope of work. Prepare RFQ packages for third party products and work closely with the Procurement team to secure the quotations. Perform quote evaluations of all the quotations received and make technical recommendations to the design and the vendor choices. Develop the cost model for the quotation and secure approvals from the senior management. Prepare customer-facing proposal packages for the completed scope of work. Engage in customer discussions by supporting the Business Development and Sales teams. Work closely with the PMO team for an efficient and effective handover of projects from the Bid Phase to the Project execution phase. Up to 10% domestic travel required. Remote work permitted.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Communications and Information Systems, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, Sales Engineer Estimator, Inside Sales Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills: design and application of medium voltage electrical distribution products and power systems; evaluating relay P&C schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams; ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution applications; analyzing customer’s technical documentation to interpret and apply product offerings and provide alternative solutions; margin setting or cash flow calculations used for business planning and supporting product or project lifecycle management processes; working with customers in multiple industry verticals, such as customers in data center, semiconductor, or industrial sectors; PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and product configuration and pricing applications; and electrical and 2D layout drawing tools, such as AutoCad or Visio. Up to 10% domestic travel required. Remote work permitted.
